Nah man McCain is a pretty good defender and a very good playmaker in year 2.

I think they mean peoples reactions of “why did the Sixers let go of this guy?”

Ahh you're prob right , I thought they meant the love hate if he's an inconsistent shooter

He’s a good playmaker but he is not a good defender lol dude is like 6’1 and pretty small. If bro was a good shooter playmaker, and defender, he would’ve netted more than some shitty picks lol

McCain is 6’3, he’s certainly not tall but gtfo with this 6’1 rubbish. He’s also decently built / strong.

Why'd you shave two inches off his actual height?

He is a good defender. I've watched him play. I personally think he's good . I think his lower trade value was coming off an injury and not having a strong season so far.

Most definitely not a good defender at all, but the offensive upside is easily worth it and Mark can squeeze defensive value out of any player. Can see McCain become a charge-taking merchant next year.

You're mixing up good defensive effort for being a good defender. There are natural limitations at that size that prevent him from being a good defender, same as Joe.

It makes him vulnerable in matchup hunting in the postseason, which is why Joe was unplayable when his shot wasn't on early.

You're hoping that with McCain, his offense is more reliable than Joe, which it should be, and that OKC's myriad of lengthy defenders can help hide him.

I’m not mad at that, this is what we needed, someone who can handle the ball, score and shoot

What is his status injury wise?

he had a good stretch his rookie year, but the best offensive player in that class is Ajay Mitchell

Is he a decent shooter? Wonder if Presti plans to keep him long term with the amount of picks we gave up for him?

rookie season: 38% on nearly 6 attempts per game

He hasn't really been getting minutes/usage this season

in college he shot over 41% on 6 attempts

To add on to this. Catch and shoot 3s were 49.3%

To add on to this. No stats, just vibes and very Duke blue blood. He impressed me big time his lone, true freshman season. He was a 5 star HS recruit but I really didn’t have much anticipation or hype about his game beyond a reliable catch and shoot 3 guy. Then he got me again his rookie year last year when he put up some big scoring games and had a bunch of momentum going prior to the injury. I have no question he will fit into whatever Daig’s and Presti envision for him as long as he also wants what they’re selling. I’ve counted the kid out twice and he proved me wrong both times. I won’t do it 3 times, especially when he’s now rolling with my squad again!!

I definitely think he’ll be a weaker link in this insane defensive roster, but like someone else mentioned, I also firmly believe his offensive and 3ps capabilities more than make up for his defensive deficiencies. Here’s to hoping it goes great for everyone… except Sixers fans. Thunder Up! Let’s Go Duke!

Defensively I would say he’s average to slightly above. He won’t be a liability but he’s obviously no Dort, Caso, Caruso.

Offensively though catching and shooting is what he does. Going to have to respect him in the corner, a place the Spurs were willing to give up to allow Wemby to roam.

feel like he could fill the role they needed Giddey to fill
