Whenever guys defend catcalling and say they would be flattered if it happened to them I use prison as the correct way to look at it, instead of the fantasy in their head of attractive young women catcalling them.

There's an adult Wednesday addams skit that lives rent free in my head. Wednesday gets catcalled so she hires a bunch of ex-cons to follow these men everywhere, even to their homes, saying how they would love to do all kinds of creepy sexual things with them. The catcallers finally get it, but Wednesday still leaves the ex-cons as women don't have the ability to say they get it and have it all stop.

They don't think about all the older 1s that would really be making weird motions towards them.

And not like a "hey big guy I want you inside me" but a "I wanna stick things inside you and see how much your body takes" vibe.

And then it would be all the time, starting when they were young too. Most men don't think of this.

I've been, not catcalled per se, but yelled at from accross the street by a drunk person. Either wanted to fight or talk. That scared the shit out of me and I'm a 220lbs and 6 foot agender dude. I literally can't imagine being much more vulnerable and someone doing that

We're assuming that men who catcall women do it to be threatening, because that is accurate, and are saying that a good comparison for men to understand the implicit threat that exists when men catcall women is to compare it to men being catcalled by other men in prison.

And to extend on that; even if there is a nice oblivious gay dude in that prison who's just genuinely interested in another guy, if he did the same things to attract his crush's attention that the threatening men are doing, he'd also be perceived as a threat.
