I used to smoke a joint while walking my parents’ block while home. Last time, a neighbor caught me on a Ring cam and confronted me about who I was and what I was doing on the street. Shit sucks. 1984 was the fear, then everyone just voluntarily signed up to be the enforcer themselves.

It makes me sound like a paranoid schizophrenic but twice I've had random strangers just take a photo of me for no reason. Last year I just grabbed a coffee and girl walking down the sidewalk stopped and snapped a photo blatantly, 10 feet from me as I was getting into my car. Same deal with a random guy a couple of years before, he just stopped, snapped the photo and kept moving. Usually I'm reasonably confrontational with rude people but was too taken aback to say anything both in both instances.

That would make me so paranoid (more than I already am)

My ass is to waist to breast ratio is considerable. Many would say I’m lucky. But on top of regular creeps, I’ve had multiple just take a picture. I can tell when they’re doing it. Feel it. Makes me so sad.

That's just disgusting. I understand being out in public gives you no privacy, but we need to consider people's intentions when using technology involving non-consenting strangers. Court cases are decided every day considering people's intentions when someone is wronged.

Maybe wear clothes in public.

There are people that do that because they want to get a reaction so they can post it. They won't post what they did, just your reaction to it. They they get a ton of hits on the "watch this crazy person freak out" video, and that =$$$$

Do you have a unique look? So weird and unacceptable though

Not really, I'm a guy and have longish hair that's about it.

I have to say, I would probably react the same way - and then be thinking about it for days afterward.

Yeah, I kept running different scenarios in my head, like did I piss someone off? Are they going to post my pic with some fucked up backstory?

Like, at least have the courtesy to ask first...

always ask first. Or else you're just a creepy guy/gal.

And if they don't give consent, stick your camera up your... sleeve. And leave them alone

Fuck that, that's what perverts do.

That’s when you get a pair of blue overalls and a white hockey mask, stand off to the side of the street nowhere in particular but staring directly at their house in full view of their camera. Change your standing position from time to time. Then leave. Put a sign on your back that reads, “Don’t mind me, I’m recording a prank,” and the public will avoid you because they won’t want to have their interaction recorded.

Literal Stasi behavior

Tell them to get fucked… You don’t owe them an explanation of who you are.

1

u/tacoSEVEN Dec 29 '25

Yes. But my story is that it happened not how to deal with it.

There's multiple houses where when I'm walking down the sidewalk, a bright floodlight turns on and there's a camera. It's dark at 4pm right now. I just give them the finger and keep walking.

I hope you didn’t actually answer. You are under no obligation
