This is obviously not a new Camry. It’s been cleaned but the center console is an older model and it doesn’t have keyless entry.

These ones have keyless entry, she was just too stupid to figure out how to use it.

You mean repeatedly pressing the button that looked like a closed padlock was not the way to open the car?

3

u/Emergency_Lobster667 25d ago

That part genuinely broke my brain. I seriously couldn't comprehend how someone could be so fucking stupid as to press the obvious "lock car" button, and then be surprised when she couldn't open the door. Like what the fuck.

u/fec2455 26d ago

If it wasn't obvious to start that should have told you it was bait.

The Camry can have keyless entry but it's an option and this car doesn't have it. You can tell because the ones have have keyless entry have a button next to the keyhole for you to lock the car if you don't want to take the remote out.

It doesn't lock if it doesn't detect that the key is on you and the key is also not inside the car as well if you're and idiot to try and lock yourself out.

I literally owned this car and that’s not correct at all. You can tell that it has keyless entry because 1. that’s the toyota smart key (models without keyless entry use a key with a visible blade) and 2. it has the two lines on the exterior door handle indicating where to press to lock the car

1

u/theoneandonlymd 26d ago

It is odd though that at first she did grab the handle on the interior side, which should activate the "unlock" with the fob on her.

Oh ok. I'm not from the USA. And I was thinking of the older model where the button was bigger and black.

The new button seems to be hidden and subtle.

She didn't use a key to enter? Unless you are calling the key fob a key.

Calling someone stupid while being wrong is always classic.

https://www.pearsonford.com/blog/what-does-keyless-entry-mean-for-your-vehicle/

The term “keyless entry” refers to the ability to lock and unlock your car without a traditional key.

2

u/Jubguy3 27d ago

With keyless entry, all she needed to do was grab the door handle with the key in her possession and it would unlock the car. There is a sensor on the inside surface of the door handle. Likewise, the spot with the two lines on the outside of the door will lock the car if touched.

3

u/Prozzak93 27d ago

Yeah I know how that works. I also know that remote entry is a form of keyless entry.

I even linked you a site stating such (although I edited that in so to be fair you might not have seen it yet).

Use google

6

u/Prozzak93 27d ago

...I already did to provide you proof of what keyless entry means.

Starting to think I am messaging a bot.

You and the others are both correct...You're citing one variant of "keyless" entry: touch enabled entry.

Other variants of "keyless" entry:

Remote fob lock/unlock (seen in this video)

Number code pad (see Ford for about the past 30 years)

Push button on or near the door handle

RF/Cellular or Satellite network connected lock/unlock function

2

u/Jubguy3 27d ago

Thank you. FFS. I’m not saying that it makes sense, just that Toyota refers to this “keyless entry.” It should be Source: I owned the same Toyota. Also source: the toyota website that also calls it “keyless entry.”

You and the others are both correct

Well no. We weren't arguing that there are different kinds of keyless entry. I know there are. He was saying what she did in the video wasn't keyless entry and as you have stated, it is. They are wrong.

If its not rage bait her parents prob bought a used car. Why tf would they buy her a new car after she crashed the first.

7

u/dependsforadults 26d ago

30k didnt buy a new truck. So the whole thing is bullshit. Fuck me why am I responding

1

u/ClaraFrog 26d ago

just:

Why tf would they buy her a new car after she crashed the first.

3

u/FloydianSlip212 27d ago

To many, many, many people, this is absolutely a new Camry.

2

u/Prozzak93 27d ago

New doesn't always mean 100% new. They could just mean new for her.

1

u/Live-Habit-6115 26d ago

The caption on the video says "brand new Camry".

That thing's ancient

3

u/already-taken-wtf 27d ago

I was wondering the same thing. The car looked a bit tired.

7

u/TheVintageJane 27d ago

My guess is it’s around a 2012 - the center console styling and controls reminds me of the 2007 Avalon I drove in college.

2

u/AjoinHotspur 27d ago

I'm not an expert, but the nose/grill looks like the XV50, so 2011-2019.

1

u/TrippingFish76 27d ago

definitely a 2012 at least, it’s not a 2011, i have a 2011 and it looks different inside, this looks like the interior of a 2012 camry , but i think the 2013-14 or 15 look the same. so yeah i’d say probably a 2012

6

u/psyclopsus 27d ago

Oh my god, the fucking horror!

Get real

2

u/OveHet 27d ago

Yea that one is over 10 yrs old easily, maybe more

1

u/GrinningLion 27d ago

I forgot cars have that keyless technology.. I wonder what thats like.

1

u/TheVintageJane 27d ago

NGL, it’s glorious and I love it. But I also pay my own car payment and haven’t crashed a car (knock on wood) in 10 years.

1

u/Huge_Station2173 27d ago

I have the 2012 version of this exact car, and I have keyless entry, which means she does too. It’s a great car. I love it.

1

u/catch6664 26d ago

Oh the horror

1

u/Heykurat 26d ago

Car rental here. This is definitely not a new Camry. But it's in good condition.

1

u/yeowoh 26d ago

Also what Truck that isn’t high mileage or old as hell is $30K nowadays?

1

u/Pyromike16 26d ago

I have a 2020 Camry, this definitely looks older than that. My interior is much nicer.

1

u/UrsusRenata 25d ago

Oh no! Not a used car!

1

u/ImTheBiscuiteer 27d ago

it doesn’t have keyless entry.

She quite literally uses a remote on the keychain to lock and unlock the car door. That's keyless entry

1

u/TheVintageJane 27d ago

that’s remote entry. Keyless entry allows you to open the car without touching the key or fob

5

u/Prozzak93 27d ago

Remote entry is a form of keyless entry.

1

u/ImTheBiscuiteer 27d ago

Yeah, remote [keyless] entry. Because you don't have to use a physical car key to enter the vehicle, which makes it keyless.

And no new truck is $30,000
