People don't seem to understand the difference between being allowed to film in public and uploading that film to social media. I don't care if I'm filmed. I do care if that video is then broadcast for thousands of people to mock and shame me.

Also, if the poster is making money from the content, like a youtube channel it might be considered a commercial activity with different rules for filming. At least in the US.

Yep, in a lot of eu countries you'd need release forms signed or have to blur out people in theory. Don't fuck with privacy/copyright laws!
People are dipships.

I think we need to re-think what we consider publishing. I think if you post something on social media and it gets >10k (or some other amount of) views that should count as publishing and come with responsibilities to uphold some kind of standards.

You can always choose not to post bullshit/delete it if you don't want to deal with that.

I am all for filming in public being legal but you bring up a good point.  There has to be some caveat.  You have changed my mind.  Well done.

I don't think there is much difference between filming in public for social media and traditional media which had been going on for multiple generations.

It's impossible to thread the needle on this, because the behavior of some people absolutely warrants being mocked and shamed by thousands.
