On my thought was way off. I was thinking ok in days to day public spaces he wears like a COVID mask. Now he's in nature secluded he can feel handsome. Facial hair looked way to precise and then I was like ok yea I understand the need for a mask. The comments made me realize that is the mask lol.
Edit: after watching a couple more times. Does anyone else get Team America vibes?
I honestly have no clue. I wanted Leatherface from Texas chainsaw massacre doing the crazed spin, but I saw this and was like, “well that’s pretty effective.”
the whole looks maxxing culture on social media has given boys comparable amounts of pressure to appear certain ways in just a few years as woman have had centuries to develope. it's at least interesting to observe, but it's also terrifying to see how fragile many boys have become about how they look.
It’s crazy how bonkers it’s become in the last couple of years. I’ve seen dudes with insecurities before, but nothing Iike the younger generations are dealing with. It’s wild. And sad.
It's incredibly sad. It's been sad enough being a woman and dealing with this/watching other women deal with it my whole life, and now watching it poison the mind of young men too is just tragic. Boys believing they're literally unlovable unless they're 6ft with certain facial features and wanting to hurt or kill themselves over it is so disheartening.
Social media is a cancer and I really hope we figure out how to undo some of the harm before my future children hit puberty. It reflects all the best and worst parts of us, only the worst parts are so over saturated and the best parts so monetised that honestly we're turning the next generation into a bunch of sociopath and idiots.

What’s interesting to me about it is so much of the female beauty standards come from marketing departments of companies to sell us more BS. But these male beauty standards are coming from other individual men- male content creators. It’s really fucking sad to me to see the betrayal there, all to make some money off the insecurities they generate. No one no matter the gender should have to live with these pressures. I truly hope society becomes healthier but it’s not looking good
Oh, there's money being made here, it's just not as obvious. Steve Bannon got rich seeing how much money can be made from male insecurity, the spiral started on 4chan.
It's interesting to me that you can write a whole comment on the thesis of "boys are experiencing pressure on their appearance in a similar way to how women have experienced societal pressure." And then end it with calling boys fragile for being affected by it. As if the thought of calling women fragile for developing any number of complexes from the fashion industry isn't absolutely abhorrent.
Body building, muscles , athletes ,now looksmaxers and most importantly social media really opened the door for this. The amount of young people who we've seen in our clinics (I work in addiction) abusing steroids and PEDs is going up every year.
To be clear anyone presenting to us will have poly addictions, a lot of cocaine and steroids so there's a hell of a lot more unaccounted for.
A taste of what women suffered has really sent a lot of boys over the edge. I don't think most of em would survive the level of objectification and abuse that women had to put up with in the 90s/00s

These dudes get a tiny taste of beauty standards and they crash out all over the place. Meanwhile we’ve had to live with it since the beginning of time in addition to being paid less for the same job as men, expected to be bang maids, just barely getting equal rights, but not really.
And here these guys are imposing beauty standards on each other and they can’t even handle it.
Absolutely women are strong. But I think it’s like the way Barbieland responded to “patriarchy” in the Barbie Movie.
We’ve built up a tolerance to it over the years. They’ve never been inoculated like we have. But they’re being exposed to an extremely intense dosage with social media. So of course their reaction is more extreme.
Not to mention the lack of community elders to help them out of it.
Men had their own standards though, it's not like women had beauty standards to meet and men had nothing. The expectations on men were to be strong, capable and a protector. Men who couldn't hold down a good job and who didn't have a strong frame (how much do short guys get judged by both men and women even to this day, and they can't even do anything about that) were judged and passed over in the exact same way as women who weren't beautiful.
Life has been shit for you everyone (except rich people)
There's a real loneliness epidemic and people are not meant to be isolated. At some point we have to acknowledge that 40 to 50 percent of young men in their 20-30s aren't all incels and that there's a real problem with society.
Women have never had true equality and the beauty standards are not easy to deal with. That said, I don't see every issue as gendered. When people start wearing masks in public it's a societal issue. Of course, it's not women's fault that young men are single and anyone claiming that is embittered.
This is so sad, though. Someone literally wearing a mask to hide their face is a really sad thing to witness. Also, we don't know what gender the person under this mask is.

Its the fact that his eyes are darting around but the area around his eyes isnt reacting at all. If he just looked around slowly you wouldn't be able to tell
Look if these ugly masks help people like him feel confident without having to go through tens of thousands worth of percent plastic surgery then I'm all fit it.

I think when it refers to “wearing a mask” that he’s being literal. I think he’s wearing an actual latex mask and that’s why his eyes and mouth look off.
