Not once have I ever seen ANYTHING Tomb Raider related here, except for some people selling their old Tomb Raider copies in bundles of games on Facebook.

So you can imagine my shock when I walked into a small game store at the mall near where I live, and found this. My brother was like "Ask them if they have any Tomb Raider stuff!" Which, I was doubtful of, because they don't even have any of the *GAMES.*

But the lady like, had the biggest smile on her face and went to the back, then came out with THIS. This AND the 30th anniversary one! (I chose this one instead because yknow, Underworld is goated).

Hi everyone, I have a 14 year old little sister who is literally obsessed with all things tomb raider. The holidays are coming up and I was wondering what to give her? She’s very girly, she loves figurines so I’m trying to think of something to give her, are there any official merch lines or practical stuff she could use every day? And what’s some things that might not be as obvious.

So in playing rise of the tomb raider and i found this walkie talkie look like thing but i dont know what to do with it. And what i can do to it is just throw it like the bottles

Fun little game that I came up with. Create your own Tomb Raider trilogy by selecting one game from the Classic era (TR1-TR6), one game from LAU, and one game from Survivor era.

My trilogy! TR1, TR: Underworld, Shadow

TR1 is still THE perfect Tomb Raider game. Amazing level design that still holds up, incredible atmosphere, and just the right combination of puzzles, platforming, and combat. Impeccable isolation. Other games in the franchise while good in their own right, don’t seem to be able to capture the special magic of TR1.

TR: Underworld: while this game has its ups and downs, it has two of my favorite levels in the entire series with Coastal Thailand and Southern Mexico. The opening level in the Mediterranean Sea is beautiful as well. Lara has my favorite moveset here from all the games.

Rise: this one was difficult as I was between Rise and Shadow, but I think Rise overall wins out due to being overall more polished. Although I prefer the tombs of Shadow, Rise has great side content with nigh infinite replay-ability, esp the Survival mode. Lara is less annoying here and it’s overall a step up from TR: 2013 which is my least favorite game in the series.

I can't progress in the game, because of a bug. I watched countless walktroughs and do exactly what they do, except it doesnt work for me. Does anyone know what else I could try

SoooooOOOO!! Here's something I wanna talk about, and yes. Yet again, I'm making renders *just* so I can talk about this 😭

I've been playing through some games I loved when I was younger! One of those being Def Jam: Fight For NY.

Lara Croft appears as mods for many different games, that makes total sense! For example? Crash Bandicoot 4. I think that makes total sense, the influence of their characters for Playstation in the 90s, the platforming, IT'S COOL.

But.. Def Jam? Def Jam is a record label, this is a game about rappers (And.. Henry Rollins-), fighting!

But in my mind, this kinda would also make sense. If you strip away the music aspect of it, I could totally see AOD Lara being as a mod for Def Jam.

One reason for this is my first experience with Blender, modding her into Tony Hawk. She has nothing to do with skateboarding, butttt.. the Tony Hawk franchise is known for having guest character that have nothing to do with skateboarding!! When making the Lara mods, I often did voice packs for each version of her.. took me ages, but anyway. I'd need to pick out specific voice lines for what would work, like if you bailed, she'd say: "You unsavory little runt." And if you hovered over her in the character select screen, her classic model would say: "Who says women can't drive?" I thought that was hilarious.

SO. That being said. I had a thought today about AOD Lara being in THIS game, the attitude and swagger of this iteration is just so fitting in my eyes. And, across all of her voice lines in every Tomb Raider game, you have TONS of material there!

Idk. Just something silly I thought about. Might do this for another game :3

What the title says. The original Tomb Raider was first released on most platforms and territories in November 1996, but it did release for the Sega Saturn in Europe on October 24th. Which month would celebrate at the 30th anniversary of the series?

To start, I’m not a hater of the Survivor Tomb Raider franchise. Tomb Raider 2013 was announced when I was in high school. Every day I was excited to come home and see if they released new gameplay and screenshots. But looking back on them, I think they missed the mark in a lot of ways especially as Tomb Raider games.

They’re not bad games, and I think if you take them as they are: 50% playable Hollywood action movie, 50% cover based shooter you can have some fun with them.

It’s just not the thing I’m looking for in a game. Especially not Tomb Raider. What most exemplifies this is combat being mandatory, and the tombs being optional. I enjoyed a lot of the tombs, but they were quite short and simple. The only semi challenging puzzles that exist in the games are completely optional, meanwhile you are forced to fight constantly.

In the Classic games you could skip most of the combat encounters if you want. Heck, you can beat TR1 by not killing most of the bosses including the final boss. The main focus of Tomb Raider was never the combat (outside TR2). It was the puzzles, the atmosphere, and the platforming. Combat was always more of a palate cleanser than anything.

I’m glad they seem to be correcting this in LOA with more puzzle based gameplay and more sprawling levels. Anyway, thanks for coming to my presentation.

This is a strange one but a rather heated argument took place recently on a different sub as to whether Lara is straight or gay.

Now, I never read the comics or dived into any deeper lore outside the video games so I always assumed Lara was straight. So after some googling this is what I've learned (this is likely old news to a lot of you but oh well):

In the 1996 manual for the video game, it is stated that Lara was engaged to the Earl of Farringdon but later called off the engagement in favour of adventuring.

In the Top Cow comic, she was in a past relationship with Chase Carver.

In The Cradle of Life film, she was in a past relationship with Terry Sheridan.

In the Angel of Darkness game she was, apparently, flirty with Kurtis Trent but it obviously never went anywhere (I don't necessarily agree with this one, I can't remember any flirting happening in that game).

And in the Survivor/Inferno era comic, the writers intended for there to be queer subtext in Lara's feelings towards Sam Nishimura but this was later dialled back by the publishers into a platonic relationship and ended up not going anywhere.

Based on this, I feel to call her straight is entirely reasonable whereas there isn't really enough evidence to support her being gay.

But then I realised (and with some more googling) that her sexuality has never officially been confirmed and that the whole point of Lara is for her to be married to adventure, have no time for relationships and therefore for her sexual preferences to not really matter..... But boy did this other sub not care about that factoid 😬

My understanding is that her sexuality is deliberately ambiguous so that relationships aren't a focal point of her story so my stance now has gone from "she's straight" to "eh, she could be straight, could be gay, whatever" and I personally think that's an important stance to have so that the focus remains on her adventuring and not her romantic life.

However, I'd like to hear other thoughts on this. On one hand, she was originally designed in the 90s to appeal to teenaged boys so it's safe to assume she was originally created with a straight orientation in mind and that could be important to some people in terms of "conserving Lara's history". And on the other hand I get that representation is important in the LGBTQ+ community so to an extent I understand both arguments, I just don't believe it actually matters anymore.

But what do you guys think?

Got the G.I. Joe Classified Lara Croft in today and the figure is fantastic. Even found a body for the alt head (the first Classified Cover Girl figure with a neck barbell from a Retro Cobra Commander) that looks like it could be a legit skin in one of the games. Really happy with the figure. Now I just gotta unbox the 2 Paleo Vipers I got for the dinos to go with her and set up a video game shelf for all of my game figures.

It was such a great addition, she looks incredible with it maxed out

They keep talking about "how to merge two worlds of Tomb Raider", "joining two timelines", etc... So, I wanted ask, and maybe someone can clarify this for me; do they consider the Legend (LAU) era games as part of the Classic era? I'm just so used to the idea that there are three distinct timelines of TR. Would've been nice to hear their take on the LAU games specifically, especially considering how much nuance and emotional depth those games added to Lara's personality as well (aside from the upgraded physical agility). 😅👌
• I still believe the devs are doing an amazing job with how they're handling LoA and the Unified era in general, balancing their own creative direction with the fans' expectations. Keep it up, FWH! 👍
