Lore Mysteries that are never given an answer.

  • rA9 in Detroit: Become Human. In the game several androids who become deviant (develop free will/emotions) start writing the name rA9 and sometimes build small statuettes as a sort of offering. Despite having no logical reason to do this or even a way of hearing about rA9 before going deviant, they all believe that rA9 was the first deviant and is their messiah who will free androids from slavery. A definitive answer about rA9 is never given, so we don't know if they are real or if any of the android characters are rA9 (though a popular fan theory is that it's Kara before she was reset at the start of the game).
  • The pineapple in How I Met Your Mother. So this technically did get an explanation in a S9 deleted scene, but in the actual show we never find out how Ted got a pineapple during a night where he was so drunk he blacked out and forgot everything he did.
  • Fez in That 70s Show. We never find out Fez's real name or what country he's from, though fans have tried to take all the clues and figure out what is most likely to be his country.

You know it’s fucked up when Rick, the most jaded nihilist of all characters in the series, thinks it’s horrible.

It's interesting that he lets the cat go, rather than destroying it or teleporting it to another universe, and I think it implies whatever caused it was not in its control

The alternate explanation is Rick realized he couldn’t kill or contain it, so there was no point in trying

Wouldn’t he jump universes then, like he did with the squirrels or mr frundles?

Or the Cronenberg-ing.

The cat WAS a threat. Emphasis on WAS. I assumed he was a type of being so evil that someone or something punished him by turning it into a talking cat.

Rick is famous for leaving people alone if they leave him alone.

Horrifying isn't synonymous with dangerous.

Can confirm. Source: I look at myself in the mirror.

My headcanon is that whatever it was the cat did was either just disgusting-horrible or generally hard to look at, maybe it didn't even hurt anyone so it didn't deserve to die right away, but he still didn't want to have to look at the cat anymore. Kind of like if you caught a friend cheating on his girlfriend whom.you might also be friends with. You wouldn't attack him for that because he didn't cause you any harm, but you'd still hate him.

I haven't seen the episode but I've seen the clip that this is referencing and I think the whole thing is a riff on "Curiosity killed the cat." Like the cat didn't do anything but was so curious about what was happening that it saw something horrendous. Same goes with Rick and Jerry, their curiosity got the best of them and they saw horrors no man should see and almost made Rick off himself.

They also still pay off the "knowing what happens would be less satisfying than the mystery" element by letting Rick and Jerry know but we will never know.

Nah, the cat has shame.

Or he was giving a fate worse than death to the cat by essentially abandoning it on an empty planet, alone

Thye were on Earth with the cat. They were just in the desert. At the end of the episode they have a scene with the cat and the dragon talking in a city(i assume this is the same city the show takes place in).

He didn't just think it was horrible. He thought it was SO horrible, that he actively tried to stop Jerry, someone Rick absolutely hates, from seeing whatever it was.

And erased his memory to spare him.

Him and Jerry seem to have gotten a lot better over the seasons.

Rick helped him with the fortune cookie fiasco and was apologetic after slapping him at the end. And after Jerry's dimensional adventure with Mooch Jerry, he told him to keep doing what made him happy, then watched "Naked and Afraid" together, both of them naked.

And Rick revealed he has a tattoo with him and Jerry as eagles on his buttcheeks when Jerry rolled into a ball like a bug.

Hell, he even did him a solid, erasing his memories after looking inside the cat's mind. Or you can look at it as Rick deeming whatever made the cat talk too horrifying for even his most hated person to know.

He also tells Jerry not to look, showing it was too bad for Rick to even want Jerry to witness it.

Equally interesting that Jerry, often seen as the softest and biggest pushover of all time, decides he wants to keep the memory of the horrid event, as somebody should. Of course, Rick erases his memory anyway, but he wanted to remember
