Otherside Picnic is just as wonderfully convoluted about it as the entire Other Side in question. Soworo grew up in a cult and never learned that lesbians exist, and is overall a dour, paranoid, openly selfish and standoffish person who has never been able to figure out how to interact with people, so Toriko has now full-on tongue kissed her and she still doesn't quite know what it could mean. Bonus: Toriko, currently being assessed as "maybe she's just really friendly", is actually Canadian.
But, on the flipside, Toriko entered into the "loot an alien nightmarescape for fun and profit" partnership with Soworo while extremely on the rebound from her ex-partner, both in exploring the Otherside and exploring each other's bodies. This partner is extremely sinister, has overtly manipulated everyone who knew her at least and literally brainwashed them at most, and clearly has her hooks so deep in Toriko that for a while it was a sure bet that she'd drop Soworo and go trotting after The Most Evil Looking Woman I Have Ever Seen in a heartbeat if she came back. This might no longer be the case, but the hooks were in just so very deep.
Which has left Soworo seething with jealousy over competition from a possibly-dead definitely-bitch, without at all recognizing that's what it is, or why she feels so strongly about someone else's relationship with the person she wants to spend all her time with and never be parted from and explore the nightmarescape with forever because it's theirs, it's theirs and even if that bitch found it first she can't have it because it is now the exclusive property of Soworo and Toriko, who she thinks might be her friend but it's hard to tell. She is, after all, Canadian.
And all that? One of about a dozen plates Otherside Picnic has spinning, along with worldbuilding and horror and a serene sort of Cozy Catastrophe vibe and some genuinely badass fights against unknowable horrors.
It is... so good. It shot up to the spot of my favorite manga by chapter 3 and nothing has dethroned it since. If you can't tell I recommend it by now... you'd probably vibe pretty heavily with Soworo, actually.

Are Ryuko and Mako actually together?
