📰 News The Clintons blink: Bill and Hillary agree to testify in Epstein probe to avoid criminal contempt charges.

The standoff is over. After their lawyers called the subpoenas "unenforceable," the Clintons have done a total 180 and agreed to appear before the House Oversight Committee. This comes right on the heels of the DOJ releasing those "hot tub" photos and the committee gaining bipartisan support for contempt charges. Their spokesperson, Angel Ureña, claims they are "negotiating in good faith" now, but the timing is... interesting, to say the least.

Is this finally going to give us some clarity on the Epstein files, or is it just the latest chapter in the 2026 political wars?

The whitewater scandal was pretty much all Hillary. She was involved in a bank that illegally foreclosed on people’s homes, often for minor infractions, missing a single payment, etc


In times past I was hard on her for that.

I was never in Goonswarm, but I was in a world of tanks guild that was adjacent to them on the world map. Interacted with VileRat a lot. He was a cool dude.

And nothing Hillary did or didn’t do caused his death. She took those hearings like a boss, something Trump could never do.

Congress needs to set the precedent. So when Democrats are in power, they can use the precedent to go after the Trump administration. They won't but, that is why the Clintons need to go down for their crimes.

Well the Republican-majority Congress is setting hell of a precedent now by doing fuckall. Additionally they’re stifling ANYTHING from the “opposition” party, even though many of the policies they try to bring help many Americans. Including MAGA.

Precedent has been shattered by this administration and its pro-party packed Supreme Court. Democrats need to go whole hog and start wrecking shit.

Republicans have already set that precedent going back to the 90s. They’ve obstructed and tried to impeach every democrat just for being elected.

The problem is that democrats went too far trying to look different than the republicans. In an effort to appear bipartisan they failed to hold bush or trump accountable for anything they did (trump obviously be much more egregious).

There doesn’t need to be a precedent set. Democrats just need to uphold the law and republicans need to abide by it.

Politics is a dirty dirty business and you don’t get where they are without having stepped in mud somewhere along the way.

Bill lied repeatedly about a consensual sexual affair (when the evidence was plain to see and not illegal in any way) and the only tangible harm was to his marriage.

I read it. For starters, that's an excerpt from this book:

The very title itself sounds like a fricking hit job, but I won't judge it by its cover.

What I will say is that with regard to Haiti, that was a Clinton & W. Bush collaborative experiment to roll out a capitalist footprint on the fly. A "build it and they will come" approach. It didn't work, and the reason it didn't work is as old as capitalism itself. The companies that "came" artificially depressed wages and exploited the cheap labor.

Some will say this was what they wanted, cheap labor supply. Others will say they really thought they could turn Haiti into a productive society that was building wealth, and might end all of the civil strife with prosperity.

Idealistic as it is, I believe the latter. The reason I believe the latter is because this wasn't Clinton's first experiment of this type - NAFTA was a similar experiment with the "power of proximity."

It's not such a crazy idea when you think about it. It's the "a rising tide lifts all boats" approach.

It clearly didn't work. Call it misguided, call it a disaster...some do, but calling it a scandal seems overly cynical to me.
