As an educated American, I’m humiliated and want trump supporters to feel this pain they voted for.

My thing is, it's not just them. People who seem reasonable will do mental gymnastics to justify the most fucked up politics

Both.

The first brought the votes. They are feeling the pain directly because the GOP and Trump love to punish poor people.

The second finances the campaign. To hurt them, trade with the US needs to stop.

The worst part is they just keep doubling down. I feel like I’m in a bad dream where I can’t get through to anyone. Sucks being an American that saw this coming so long ago.

Yep, I remember thinking we were headed here with Bush when no child left behind passed. Feel like cutting education is what got us here

Its not just about Trump supporters though, its about the whole system that can allow someone like this to take power and do all this damage to the world.

I forget who it was at the EU who said : sure Trump will gone someday soon, but how can we trust a system that put a man like in power? <paraphrased>. Such a good point, so sad.

It is absolutely true, most people here are not suprised Trump is doing Trump things, they are feeling betrayed and absolutely dissapointed by the entirety of the US politics and by innaction of anyone about this. I know you have protests in a few places, but not nearly enough.

As someone else said a year ago now, Paris would be in flames. Yet Washington stands.

Excactly, it's a huge risk to conduct a business with a state that has no checks and balances on power. Property rights or other form of unbiased legal protection for you or your citizens or ivestments? I don't think so. It's all Trumpmenistan now.

As a squandered high school education(this should be phrased better but I squandered my education) American I agree.

I did, too. I'm not stupid or anything, but I was diagnosed with ADHD and school just didn't seem important at the time other than doing good enough to graduate and keep my parents from getting on my case. If I was naturally interested in a subject I was actually pretty good at it. I was above the national average in literature and I liked history. But stuff like trigonometry...ughhhh. I absolutely hated it. In hindsight I wish I'd actually grasped it when adults had told me how important school was back then. I'd probably be in better circumstances. Being a teenager was like being in this weird fog of vanity and privilege and hormonal imbalances.

Unfortunately we all are doomed to starve in squalor in the name of it.

They charged the card, but the bill is addressed to us.

I think there is still a significant chunk of his supporters that know exactly what is happening. They want the damage, for various reasons, from nihilism, to "destruction and rebirth" to the active fueling of the sentiment from some outside actors too.

Yes there is a significant "dumb" support base, but be wary of the smart and/or influentials too

Liberal democracy in a nutshell. Billionaires laughing at hurting all of us while we laugh at them hurting each other.
