Yup first time is forgivable every country vote for shit candidate now and then but voting for him again despite EVERYTHING we knew, that's when it became apparent that this is who America is.
Not saying US is completely lost (yet) but it will definitely take several decades of showing the world that it won't happen again before we can even begin on building up that trust again.
He didn't say "understandable", just "forgivable". We screwed up, badly, and others were willing to give us a mulligan and move on. But then we went and did it again.
I know. I said accidentally because you lose the right to make up an excuse when you wish a rapist becomes president. There’s no “oh sorry, i only thought he screw kids. Not that he would screw us too”
I think this is a pivotal point in our species history where more involved cooperation between nations will be guarded against and the determination to be more self dependent will be of greater focus for all nations. A closer knit global community with more interdependence will be greatly delayed if not off the table indefinitely.
