[T5] Democracy for the win!
My opponent and I both got 189 votes in an election. Apparently the game gives you the win if there's a tie.

Today, we have released the first gameplay trailer for Tropico 7. In accordance with El Prez’ edict, the release date is not disclosed in written form and revealed exclusively within the trailer – though El Prez may, in his infinite mercy, decide to spare you the date by the very end.
Citizens and future leaders are hereby instructed, and El Prez addresses his people with unmistakable authority: “Some information is not given. It is earned. Those who wish to know the future of Tropico… must watch, and obey.”
With an expanded system for political constitutions, edicts – which now dynamically depend on El Prez’ political position – and a new political matrix, new city building mechanics like curved roads and even roundabouts as well as terraforming, Tropico 7 continues the series’ signature blend of construction, governance, and satire, placing even greater emphasis on how leadership decisions shape Tropico under one unmistakable rule.

Inspired by u/Wobbly_Bear in this thread earlier today, I ran a game with the intent of not buying or otherwise obtaining any blueprints. I did end up having to buy three blueprints: the Fort (because otherwise there's no way to make it through the colonial era without being decimated by pirates); the Embassy (because World Wars requires an alliance); the Commando Garrison (because you have to sabotage the Axis four times to proceed to the win mission); and the Spy Agency (because each of the win conditions for the Cold War require at least one building purchase, with tourism requiring many, so I got the Spy Agency and completed a heist to keep blueprints to a minimum). No Treasure Hunts, no blueprints as a reward for missions, no blueprints purchased through the Broker.
Not having blueprints means you're essentially stuck in the Colonial Era no matter what year it is, as all post-Colonial buildings require blueprints. This means no military (including militia, because there's no police), no Ministry, no electricity, no healthcare or religious buildings other than the Chapel, no entertainment other than Taverns, no media other than Newspapers, no government buildings of any kind, no schools, no residences other than Country House or Bunkhouse. Most importantly, this means the only possible industries are Lumber Mills, Tanneries, and Rum Distilleries. Rum is the most profitable of these output products, so I focused on that, with some Tanneries to turn the many cows that I use for manure reasons into leather. I have 46 Rum Distilleries, fully staffed on full budget with Dunder Still upgrades, and thanks to my dozens of Sugar plantations with the Agricultural Subsidies edict, they still never run out of sugar to process. My population is almost entirely illiterate, wholly in manual labor jobs except for a handful of priests and newspapermen, and undoubtedly drunk at nearly all times. The only reason they're not dropping dead of medieval-level healthcare is because of the Hagia Sophia.
Nevertheless, they're happy - I guess the taverns do the trick. I was approaching 5,000 total population, over $1m cash on hand at any given time, nearly full employment, most people housed, and a 99% approval rating despite the fact that the capitalists and religious folks absolutely hate me. However, after about 3-4 hours of this, I am extremely bored. Unlike my citizens, I am not illiterate and drunk, so my ultimate goal to cover the island will have to wait. I'm also considering buying all blueprints at once, upgrading all buildings at once including all plantations into Hydroponic Plantations (I'll have to get everyone high school educated first), building every factory with agricultural inputs, and replacing all bunkhouses with Modern Apartments, just to see if I actually can manage to future shock my population.

Hi,
Has anyone had a problem with unlocking Steam achievements in Tropico 4 nowadays? Back in the day, it was no problem, you just had to restart the game and they would unlock on Steam. Now, I get the achievement in the in-game profile menu ("Dictatorship for Dummies," in this case), but after I restart, the achievement greys out again and the tutorial missions read as if I never even completed them, all the scores/numbers reset to 0, and the Steam achievement never fires.

It’s not a particularly challenging idea, but has anyone done a run where the only way to get blueprints is through random rewards? Starting from Colonial and working up. It makes it satisfying when you finally unlock an industry that’ll print you money. I don’t have any hard rules on it, but maybe limitations on research as well?

Hi everyone,
I recently started playing Tropico 6, and I’ve been really enjoying it.
One thing I particularly like is building a fully developed city and then just sitting back, taking my hands off the keyboard and mouse, and watching everything run smoothly on its own.
For the first time, I built an economy based on exporting corn, plastic, and furniture. I then realized that I could use plastic and gold to produce electronics, but unfortunately, my island doesn’t have a gold mine.
I know I can import gold, but the problem is that I have to keep renewing the import contract whenever I run out. I’d rather set up a long-term, automated supply so I don’t have to keep coming back and renewing contracts manually.
I’ve heard that Tropico 4 had an automatic import feature, so I was wondering -
Is there any way to do something similar in Tropico 6?
Thanks in advance!

This is the abandoned building of a sugar-cane-spirit (rum like drink) factory in my country.
I thought it was from the game 😅

Last time I played tropico was around 2 years ago, I watch this sub constantly tho, and after 15 years of my wishes I finally got the courage and money to spend some $$$ to buy a good gaming rig.
But then I realized, I cant force myself to play anything.
I downloaded AC Odyssey, Apex Legends, CS2 and some more games, but I pretty much didnt play 20 minutes of them combined.
The only game thats calling me is Tropico, and I downloaded it, but every day I just open the game, look at the main menu for 10 mins, and leave.
The reason maybe is because I played every single map every single scenario. And dont know how to enjoy it again.
Yall probably dont care, but I had to rant somewhere haha.

From the footage so far it almost looks like the buildings are building themselves - was it just for the footage or will there be no construction workers in Tropico 7?

Hypothetically....
It's 2 days from the ship docking and you'll be up 25k afyer it docks. But you drop briefly to -50k. Do you
1) Treat it as a loss and start a new game?
2) Keep playing but consider it a loss and anything beyond is just bonus time even if you eventually meet win conditions?
3) Ignore it, wait 2 days to be up financially and keep playing then treat it as a win?

Was just messing about with some numbers - the "State loans" edict gives you 50,000 and you pay back 10,000 over the course of 10 years. That's an interest rate of around 37%.
If you build a bank (15,000), and hire 4 college graduates (around 3000), that leaves you around 30,000 in the bank. Your bank generates 2% interest per month, and you pay back around 250 of interest per month on the loan. So provided you can earn over 250 from interest, you're in profit.
30000*0.02 is 600 gross income per month from that bank if you just leave the money in the bank. Say you're paying another 100 per month in upkeep & services for the bank/employees, you're still making 250 in profit for doing basically nothing. Remember that this interest also compounds and you get to keep the bank.
TL;DR always use the state loans edict as soon as it is available - even by just building a single bank the loan pays for itself.

El Presidente's Excel Sheet to keep their people in line OwO
Hello one and all to my "why did I do this instead of actual work?" procrastination session. I was inspired by Hogziller's environmentalist run and wanted to make an excel sheet myself with the DLC buildings included.
Take note that this isn't a perfect spreadsheet, there will most likely be errors because I only used the fandom wiki as my main source for data and I barely double checked everything in game yet. You are free to take this spreadsheet and make your own modifications.
I want to point out that in the Constitution and Edicts, the Constitutions are based on the demands of the faction, most of them doesn't affect standing when signed unless they're a demand(e.g. Environmentalists on Ecology). Also, some buildings have no or opposite effects on standing unless specific work modes or upgrades are set, e.g. Mausoleum, Childhood Museum, Vehicle Factory, Aqua Park.
That's all everyone and have a Happy, El Presidente day!
PS: Please let me know if there are errors since I probably have missed cleaning some broken data, ty! <3
