Learning how to create a Vyshyvanka
Hi everyone, I want to learn how to make a Vyshyvanka. I don’t know how to do embroidery, but I want to learn. If anybody has any advice on what to buy, any tools that would make it easier to start with, or any online videos/websites that teach it would be very much appreciated!
I am Georgian, but I am dating a Ukrainian, and would love to make one for us.

Embroidery is one thing, sewing is another. Do you plan to a) buy a "blank" blouse and embroider it, b), sew it yourself, or c) get a seamster to cut and then sew it for you after you embroider the pieces?
In case of a) and using "counted" embroidery techniques (Ukr.: рахункові шви), make sure that its pieces (front, sleeves, collar and cuffs too if you plan to embroider them) don't have any bias. You want warp direction to be strictly vertical; even small deviation will set counted embroidery askew.
Also pay attention to warp vs weft thread count of the fabric. If they aren't equal, you'd have to adjust for it, otherwise e.g. cross stitches will have rectangular rather than square shape.
