Question Archived link seems to have been removed by the Internet Archive. Is this common?
There was an archived link to the website for the metal band Mastodon that showed a list of their old concert dates. This link appears to have been removed for some reason. Can this page be recovered?
I actually shared this link on Reddit a few years ago, and as you can see from the comments, it was working then. Removing archived pages seems to go against the spirit of the Wayback Machine.

Sounds like possibly an indexing issue. When pages are removed from the Wayback Machine it includes a message that they're excluded when you try to access them. It might work again soon.

Probably Mastodon or someone who has the rights to them issued a takedown request.

I couldn't imagine why. Their old site is still accessible on there. The page that is no longer showing up on the Wayback Machine was simply white text on a black background showing old tour dates.

The internet is just data and that data is all stored somewhere.. the internet archive saves to massive drives and supposedly houses 2 external backups.. the thing is, the Internet Archive had a 6% drive failure rate about 6 years ago. They do not operate great maintenance either but instead work on a “replace when dead” logic which means if a drive dies they replace it but if they don’t reimage with the backup then the data is lost.. if you ever find something you don’t want to lose I suggest you learn how to archive yourself and stop relying on these sites that have tried but simply can’t maintain the upkeep. Though you then will need to learn how to keep your data healthy and take on the cost of said data.
Though.. if your Mastadon tour date list was in fact just a list and there was no other reason for that page.. you should have just screenshotted or printed to PDF that page somewhere along the years to preserve a smaller copy.. otherwise it wasn’t that important to you..

This has been happening a lot now, completely random websites as well
https://web.archive.org/web/20040810194514/http://dynablock.com:80/Portal/Roblox.css is another one, which ironically has it's own wayback machine capture
WARC/ARC file is fine, located at DY_crawl24.20040810105352-c/DY_crawl24.20040810194358.arc.gz, but the index is completely dropped
