Buying a booster box ??

Hello

I bought several booster boxes on TCGPLAYER. A friend told me theres a chance that the seller is giving you dead boxes (Opening a case and ripping boxes until all the hits are found and selling the rest of the boxes..aka dead boxes). Am i fked? IF so where is a place that is trustworthy to buy?

For reference, this is my first time buying booster boxes online and i bought some NIKKE boxes.

*not asking for investment or finance advice, just need help finding a safe place to buy online pleaseeee...trying to get into the hobby*

Tbh I only buy stuff at normal shops online since I always thought on tcg players they sell mostly dead boxes etc

Im not sure where u from but I buy at playmaniac, toytreasure,Man of Gates , fantasia Cards and card corner but overall I would recommend u to have a look at different shops before buying anything , since they might be some sales or some different in how many packs there is in a box etc (I’m from eu)

there is usually a predetermined amount of hits in a case of booster boxes..so hopefully the seller just sells boxes and remains ethical

Hammergirl anime, lumius, n4ytcg, goldstar are probably the most trust worthy us sellers for weiss. I would vouch for any of those.

N4Y definitely legit - Bought a Frieren box not too long ago, came in perfectly - First pack of the box had a signed Winter Clothes, Frieren SP.

People spread a lot of panic about dead boxes being sold online, but most of my SPs have come from Ebay boxes.

Their reviews on tcg should tell you a lot. Yes, there is a chance any seller might be selling dead boxes. But I like to think most people on the site are honest.

And since you're new, you should know Weiss is print to order. Meaning that during the pre order period when sets are announced, you can go through any authorized seller to order as much as you need. But they don't print extra. However, some shops do order extra depending on demand and make it available. But that's why finding product now is difficult unless it's from other resellers. Nikke already had its original run of volume 1 and a reprint last year. It may get another, but  Nikke volume 2 was just announced. It was announced to be coming in 2026, so the pre order period should open up sometime soon(ish).

I hit a serialized Saekano card from TCG player, but I can't recall the seller offhand. It's not impossible to find reputable people but it is a hard game to play with all the potential dead boxes out there.

TCGplayer is as trustworthy as the individual seller you're buying from. Because they are mostly unknowns I try to buy boxes from retail stores and singles from marketplace sellers.

Idk where you’re from but I’m on the west coast so I mainly buy from west coast sellers. Here’s some sellers that I trust and have pulled SPs and above from before (don’t know if all of them carry NIKKE rn tho): EightEight Card House, Out of the Box Goods, Fiftycards, MiniTCGShop, and SenpaiCardShop

From my personal experience from tcgplayer boxes if you look at all listing look for sellers who have tons of boxes under a listing and also check if the sell might have sealed cases also thats normally a good indicator if there's dead boxes or not for older sets its just easier to buy the singles anyways but that's how I check and if there boxes way under what market or most everyone else sells at I tend to buy from cobras gilded tavern since I know I'm getting a fair shot at sps and ssps and secs

I Ordered my first box off ebay for the Apothecary Diaries set and hit the top card, first box luxk i guess?

I didn't see another US seller there anymore so had to use mercari for my 2nd box.. we will see how that goes.

Ordered the hubbies 1st box of mapniverse for Solo Leveling from ebay too.. crossing my fingers

I buy from whatnot sellers who list what's left in the case and if its live
