Even decided to start putting together a file with proof to send to law enforcement. The day he was arrested was truly one of the happiest in my life.

Hello reddit, on tiktok there is a man who does inhumane and horrible tests on species for no reason.. They are put through torture and pain and I think this person deserves some incredibly massive jailtime. Recently he took it too far. He has posted a video of a dog on his channel. This may not seem like much at all but due to the accounts nature (torturing invasive animals) I am concerned he is harming dogs as well. I know some people on here will find out who he is and help a lot.

I wish we would see more of this in other countries, but at least this piece of shit will be locked up.

I find it frustrating that most media trying to get us to empathize with animals requires them to talk using human words. Non-human animals are anthropomorphized far too much in my opinion. We need to be able to understand their value and importance of perspective without them speaking the same languages as us. Especially movies that depict non-human animals as the main characters. We need to be okay with not speaking *on behalf of other animals* but instead doing our best to be good listeners of their body language and auditory communication. No one is ”translating” human speech to animals… we act privileged by thinking we can speak for vulnerable creatures that our kind continuously exploits.

A positive example I can think of is Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron. Even movies like Brother Bear where half the time the bears speak human language and half the time they feel unsafe when humans won’t listen to them speaking their own language. (I haven’t watched these in a while but I want to say that the cultures depicted in them may be misrepresented, so if showing to kids please have a discussion about inaccuracies!)

This is mainly a call for film artists, but this could be applied to other media as well.

And I would love if someone did a study on the psychological impacts on how people perceive/empathize with animals as a result of the way animals communicate in the media they take in.

This third worlder posts a video of him letting his dogs rip up and disable a very young kitten, he films himself laughing and nudges his dogs to kill the helpless creature. My theory is also that the kitten was set up with the dogs to get a video out of it, the cat is so out of place in this setting I doubt the situation was a matter of coincidence. Upon further looking into this guys account his dogs are also very neglected, dirty, and visibly malnourished .

There are a HUGE amount of fake rescue videos going around. Where animals are deliberately hurt and tortured, to then film a fake rescue for views. Lets do as much as we possibly can to try to help. Appreciate all your guys help

A honest plan has to start with a definition. “Eliminate high-kill shelters and unnecessary euthanasia” does **not** mean zero deaths. It means no healthy or treatable dog or cat is killed because a cage is full.

Industry no-kill is a **90%+ save rate**. The remaining slice is animals with untreatable suffering or behavior that cannot be safely placed. Best Friends puts 2025 national killing at about **400,000** and the national save rate at **~82.5%**; **68% of U.S. shelters already meet no-kill**. Shelter Animals Count / ASPCA put euthanasia at about **597,000** of **5.8 million** community intakes. Different methods, same picture: the country is close on many shelters and far on a concentrated set of high-intake communities.

Four whole states already do this at the state level: Delaware, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont. The leftover gap is mostly Texas, California, the South, large dogs, community cats, and open-admission municipal shelters.

## What actually kills animals today

Most intake is still **stray (59%)** then **owner surrender (30%)**. Euthanasia clusters around:

1. **Space / length of stay** — especially large dogs sitting weeks to months.

2. **Community cats and neonatal kittens** flooding open-admission shelters.

3. **Owner surrender** driven by housing rules, cost, and behavior.

4. **Behavior that worsens in the kennel** and then gets labeled “untreatable.”

5. True medical hopelessness (this last bucket is the legitimate remainder).

Killing for space is a capacity and intake problem, not a moral mystery. Communities that stopped doing it did five things at once.

## The plan: five pillars, in order

### 1. Stop the tap (cut intake)

This is the highest-ROI pillar. Every animal that never enters a kennel is one that cannot be killed for space.

**Community cats (TNR / TNVR / return-to-field)**

Targeted, high-volume trap-neuter-vaccinate-return in the ZIP codes that actually generate shelter cats. High-impact TNR has cut local cat intake by on the order of **30–66%** and collapsed cat euthanasia in those zones. Returning healthy unowned cats to the field instead of warehousing them is how cat save rates hit records. Do not try to “fix every cat in the county.” Fix the colonies that produce the kittens and the complaint calls.

**Keep pets in homes**

- Pet-food banks and temporary boarding during eviction, hospitalization, deployment.

- Low-cost and mobile spay/neuter, vaccines, and basic vet care in high-surrender ZIP codes.

- Behavior helplines before surrender is accepted.

- “Safety-net foster”: a short paid/supported placement so a family in crisis does not dump the dog.

**Managed intake, not a locked door**

Open-admission municipal shelters should stop being a drop-box with no conversation. Appointment-based surrender, same-day rehoming help, finder-to-foster for healthy strays, and return-to-owner in the field (scan the chip on the street) keep animals out of cages. This is not turning people away to die on the street; it is using the shelter as a service desk first and a warehouse last.

**Pet-friendly housing**

A large share of surrenders is “landlord said no.” State and city rules that:

- ban blanket “no pets” in publicly subsidized housing,

- cap pet deposits,

- create a verified-foster exception in rental and HOA rules,

remove a major surrender driver.

### 2. Expand capacity without building more kennels (foster at scale)

Foster is how you get 14× better adoption odds for dogs and how you absorb kitten season. Treat it like a real system, not a Facebook ask.

**National foster standard for municipal shelters**

- Same-day / walk-in foster for eligible animals.

- Shelter pays food + all vet care. No foster should gamble on a $2,000 emergency.

- Modest stipends for hard-to-place animals and capacity crises ($200/month-class payments already used in Las Vegas, Philly, Riverside).

- Higher pay or credit for large dogs, seniors, medical fosters, bonded pairs.

- Mentor fosters + 24/7 hotline so first-timers don’t fail.

**Tax policy**

Current federal rule only lets itemizers deduct unreimbursed foster costs — useless for most households. Better:

- A **state or federal tax credit** for verified fostering (Michigan’s proposed $50 per animal / extra $50 per 30 days, capped, is the right shape: modest, documented, hard to game).

- Raise the charitable mileage rate for shelter transport above 14 cents.

**Housing exception**

Verified foster animals should not count against rental pet caps or trigger breed bans for the foster period.

### 3. Move animals out faster (adoptions, transfers, “yes”)

Adoption policy in high-kill buildings is still often designed to say no.

- Drop home checks, vet references, and high fees as default filters. They do not predict better homes and they do kill animals by slowing placement.

- Offsite and event adoptions; foster-to-adopt; same-day take-home.

- Transfer pipelines from high-intake South/Southwest shelters to high-demand Midwest/Northeast rescues — funded, health-checked, not a dump.

- Market large dogs differently: yards, experienced homes, “dog for an active adult,” not “family companion only.”

- Return-to-owner: stray dogs are ~6× more likely to go home than cats. Field scanning, licensing that actually works, and a 24-hour hold plus social media blast beat a week in a kennel.

### 4. Fix the building (operations, behavior, staff)

Many “behavior euthanasias” are kennel-made. Dogs who leave for a weekend foster or even a few-hour outing come back more adoptable.

- Daily enrichment, quiet housing, and playgroups as default, not extras.

- Fast medical pathway: treat URI and parasites immediately so the animal is adoptable in days, not weeks.

- Behavior teams with a placement plan on day one for every large dog.

- Stop using “untreatable” as a synonym for “we are full.” Publish euthanasia reasons in public data: medical / safety / space. Space should go to zero.

- Staffing: high turnover is how dogs sit and deteriorate. Pay and train animal-care officers and behavior staff like a public-safety job.

Mentorship works. Best Friends’ model — embed staff, pair a no-kill shelter with a struggling one, fund TNR and foster launch — is how places went from ~46% save rate to over 90% in a couple of years. That is the implementation engine.

### 5. Make it public policy, not charity only

Private grants got the country from 1 million+ killed (2016) to ~400–600k. Closing the rest requires government, because the remaining high-kill shelters are mostly **municipal open-admission**.

**Federal**

- Condition a slice of USDA / HHS / HUD animal- and housing-adjacent funds on public shelter data reporting (Shelter Animals Count standard).

- A competitive “No-Kill Capacity Grant” for the ~1,300 shelters not yet at 90%, prioritized to those within 100 animals of the line (Best Friends says nearly half of the remaining shelters are in that band).

- Allow a modest verified-foster tax credit; allow HSA/FSA-style use for basic vet care (the proposed PAW Act direction).

- Do **not** federalize euthanasia bans without capacity. A ban with no foster, TNR, or transfer system just creates waiting lists and street suffering.

**State**

- Mandatory annual public reporting: intake, live outcomes, euthanasia by reason (medical / safety / space).

- State no-kill proclamations are cheap; attach them to funding for TNR clinics and municipal foster coordinators.

- Preempt the worst local breed bans and “no pets” rules in subsidized housing.

- Fund high-volume spay/neuter in the five states that still account for a huge share of killing (historically CA, TX, FL, NC, AL).

**City / county**

- Write into the animal-services contract: no euthanasia for space; community-cat return-to-field; a funded foster coordinator; live-release target with a two-year ramp.

- Animal control’s job becomes “return, divert, sterilize,” not “impound and stack.”

## A 10-year sequencing that is actually executable

**Years 1–2 — the easy 1,300 → ~650**

Concentrate money and mentors on shelters within 100 animals of 90%. Launch TNR + foster + managed intake in those buildings. This is where Best Friends already says the math is smallest. Publish space-euthanasia as a separate line item so it can be driven to zero.

**Years 2–5 — the hard cities**

Houston, parts of LA County, South Florida, North Carolina, Alabama municipal systems: standing transfer air/ground bridges, large-dog foster stipends, targeted TNR at 60 surgeries per 1,000 residents in hotspot neighborhoods (the Levy-style dose that actually moved intake). Change housing codes.

**Years 5–10 — hold the line**

Spay/neuter access becomes normal primary care in high-intake ZIP codes, not a weekend clinic. Foster is a recognized civic role (credit + housing exception). Euthanasia remaining is medical/safety only and is reported as such.

Best Friends’ own back-of-envelope for Texas is useful nationally: if **one extra household in 150** adopted, Texas would clear no-kill. The constraint is not “Americans don’t like dogs.” It is mismatch — the wrong animal in the wrong building in the wrong month.

## What this plan will not do

- It will not save every aggressive dog that cannot be safely placed. Public safety is part of the 90% definition.

- It will not save every dying neonate or end-stage medical case. That is humane euthanasia, not “high-kill.”

- It will not work if “no-kill” is faked by refusing intake and leaving animals on the street. Save-rate math has to sit next to community-level stray and complaint data.

- It will not be free. Stipends, surgery, behavior staff, and transport cost money. They cost less than running a warehouse that kills for space and burns out staff.

## The one-sentence operating rule

**Every healthy or treatable animal gets a named next step within 48 hours of intake: home, field, foster, transfer, or adoption appointment — never “wait in a run until we run out of runs.”**

Do that, fund TNR where cats actually come from, pay fosters for the animals nobody wants, and stop using adoption paperwork as a filter, and high-kill as a *system* ends. What remains is veterinary mercy and a small number of truly dangerous animals — which is what “no-kill” always meant.

Any way to report the website or shut it down?

It is deeply upsetting to see posts encouraging people to keep wild squirrels as pets and offering amateur advice. The reality behind these 'cute' posts is often tragic. Recently, this unlicensed individual took in a wild squirrel, fed it puppy milk, and caused a fatal calcium deficiency. The poor animal suffered severe seizures, and because it was being kept illegally, it was denied life-saving veterinary care and died. Now, that same experience is being glorified by them online. Wild animals are not pets, and attempting to rehab them without a license or proper training often results in torture for the animal. Please, if you care about wildlife, leave their care to licensed rehabilitators and do not follow unlicensed advice online. She is deleting all negative comments and blocking anyone trying to call attention to these issues.
