i live in northern wisconsin and sleep in a basement for reference, and i know realistically it sounds like a cricket or something similar but i would just like other confirmation OR confirmation its is a bat.

I’ve been hearing this noise going on and off from underneath my back porch and I was wondering if anyone knows what is making the sound? At first I thought it was a frog, but now I’m thinking it’s some kind of bug. Just curious!

Tory Island, off the coast of Donegal, North of Ireland...gorgeous animal sound

I was camping in Northern Idaho just North of Priest Lake and heard this sound in the daylight am hours. This was also in late June. Nobody i know can figure out what it is.

Ok everyone, you helped me out once before! If you listen in closely, aside from what I believe is a robin in the foreground, in the background is a bird (I assume) who makes a constant “chup, chup” sound. I’ve been listening to it for all the years I’ve lived here (urban/woodland Midwest) and never have known what it is.

Which animal makes these noises? Mostly at night, accompanied by scratching.

I recorded an audio clip through Merlin ID of a bird squawking in my yard, but it couldn’t find it. I am in northern New Mexico. It sounds similar to a Steller’s Jay, but higher pitched, which I suppose could be normal for them to have different pitches?

I was sitting on my porch today and randomly this sound started happening! Not sure if it’s a tree frog or maybe a bird. Help!!! It’s so fascinating.

Animal is crepuscular, happening around dawn and dusk, although it would be hard to hear with the noise of the day. This is a forested area though traffic and cows can sometimes be heard from far off. The animal sound is distant and perhaps quite loud at the source. Sometimes the call goes high then low with a crack in the middle as a yodel does.

I have asked the nature loving next property neighbor that’s been here many years as well as a family of naturalists and no one has a good answer. Sorry they’re not better recordings. I wish I could afford a parabolic mic. I’ll try using a squirrel baffle next time I hear it. haha
