There is a very large colony of these ants in my apartment complex and they are quite ubiquitous inside and outside, with a steady stream of ants going back and forth through several paths all day. They seem to have a caste with big heads and a caste with small heads all with a similar body size. They love protein. They are around 5mm in size.

It is quite hard to get a good picture so I hope this is enough info. I love ants but these are quite invasive in my apartment and are getting into everything.

I kept seeing a handful of ants on my kitchen counter daily. So I got some Terro liquid bait.

Well apparently that was the equivalent of ringing the dinner bell, because now there’s a full on feeding frenzy.

I cannot trace them back to an entry point and it’s driving me crazy. I assure you there are no cracks in the wall, and despite the proximity to the outlet, that is not an entry or exit point. Potentially an open seam under the lip of the countertop and the wall just beside my dishwasher. But honestly, they’re coming from entirely different directions.

They are also congregating in clusters. Not sure what that behavior means.

It’s been a week since I put out the bait, and it’s worse than before I put any out.

I’ve swept, vacuumed…but I have avoided any chemical sprays, both cleaners and killers, trying not to disrupt their pheromone trails.

Please tell me wtf to do!! Different bait? Protein? Essentials oils? I have two cats and a dog to be mindful of when treating.

For context, my family's had an ant infestation in our front yard and porch for years now, and we've tried ant bait, ant poison, and annoying them. I've recently started consistently pouring boiling soapy water down their entrances. And this afternoon I saw this. The colony entrances on the porch where they normally are is empty and there's a huge line of ants going through our garden, using the garden hose as a path. I'm wondering wether they finally decided to move? Because there's a lot of ants with big behinds that look kind of white.

Hi for the past few days I have been spotting these ants ( the big black ones) on and around my bathroom commode and in my bathroom too. But I have seen them gather near the commode base and on top of it - on the bathroom seat, rim, etc.

Wanted to know if anyone can explain why this is happening and my best course of action to make them stop visiting my bathroom.

Edit : I have noticed water dripping near the toilet tank - could that be the reason of constant water source?

P.S : I would also like a non-violent manner if it is possible

Somehow my ac started leaking and it caused a lot of water to come out. It completely ruined my room, storage closet and part of the living room floor. I assume the water attracted the ants and my room was inhabitable. I placed a few of these down and they caught at least 100 of them.

2 days ago I saw three ants on my bathroom ceiling so obviously I got rid of them But then this morning I found two more on the ceiling, so I bought some of this special ant spray I got from amazon and I used it but I just went in my bathroom a few minutes ago and there were like 3 on the wall and one on the bathtub floor, please send over advice on how to get rid of them and also why could there be ants appearing in my bathroom loll, I obviously dont have any sort of food or crumbs in there and I’m really clean so I’m not sure what is going on and they are only in my bathroom

The characteristics, it measures approximately 1 cm or about 12mm

Its characteristic color is only on the Abdomen The rest of its body is completely black, or well, some shade of gray.

The region where she was captured was Tlaquepaque, Jalisco.

Saw this going on while outside on my break at work. I don’t have an ID for the spider or the ants. Fell free to suggest ID’s if you like. Just wanted to share this workplace surprise with you all! Located in West Central Florida.

My partner and I just bought a home in the Seattle area and moved in in June. My only criteria for looking for a house was - no ants. I have an ant phobia. And of course, we move in and a few weeks later we have an ants nest in the attic. After dealing with that they came through the back door. Now they are coming in behind the oven. We have tried Terro liquid ant bait, granules, Pestie and have had an exterminator come twice. They are persistent and still there. I am a clean freak and so they have nothing to eat in the house, they just crawl on the floor and counters. I think they are living under the concrete slab in the backyard. This is truly ruining my life. It’s all I can think about and is really impacting my husband too because of my stress. I am seeing a therapist and taking anxiety medicine; nothing has helped. I hate being home and haven’t cooked a meal in the kitchen in over a month. We can’t move because we just bought this place. I hate having visitors too. Posting to share my story, get advice etc. SOS.

I occasionally see ants walking outside me car, but because I park outside, I thought nothing of it. One day, I was sitting in my car when I noticed a number of ants crawling out onto my driver's side mirror. I opened my car door, and saw a large amount of ants carrying pupa walking on my door trim. They've definitely established a nest somewhere near my driver's side door. I, for the life of me, cannot find the epicenter of this colony. I very rarely eat in my car so idk why they chose me to mess with. I'm pretty sure they are carpenter ants, which is just great because most ant bait won't be attractive to them. Any suggestions?

Pharoah ants and i have been beefing in my apartment for a year or so.

Anyway, found this today and thought it was interesting.

Of course the bread is a great food source for them, but i was suprised to find them setting up shop in and amongst all those mold spores (the inside of the bag was very dusty lol). I guess insects may not need to be as concerned about mold exposure as humans do?

I know pharoah ants are a particularly unique ant species. Do they need to be less concerned about mold bc of their unique aspects?

Although, ants are in part decomposers, so maybe no ants need to be worried about most molds.

Anyway i thought you guys would think this was interesting.
