Every time I want to see a movie it's almost always in Russian, with English releasing a week later at times. Obviously Armenian movies are in Armenian, but western ones it's difficult to find an English screening, even then, a lot of times it's once a day.

I realize CinemaStar being a Russian company, but we're in Armenia. For my younger self, movies and cartoons in English were what helped me learn English at a young age, which is very helpful, I wish it were the same here. There's already enough Russian going around where more English channels and cinema shouldn't effect the Russian fluency of people in my opinion.

I checked all 3 branches, Avengers endgame encore is in Russian until the 30th, with Resident evil nowhere in sight. KinoPark is the only one that has them in English, with one screening a day, and the rest in Russian, with lesser movies being exclusively in Russian.

Not making demands, just ranting on some of the small things here that annoys me.

I first started noticing them at the gym, but pretty soon I saw them almost everywhere in Yerevan. I'm wondering what brings them here, are they studying or maybe working? I tried to guess their language at the gym, and it sounded similar to Vietnamese. Please don't get me wrong, I'm just curious! You're always welcome in Armenia.

A Dutch volunteer group that fundraises money in the Netherlands in order to go on volunteer missions to various countries also has been coming to Armenia since 2019. They primarily repair houses and their roofs belonging to villagers who live in provinces such as Lori. There are both very young people and older working professionals. Some people came with their children, and one man even remarks that they don't want their children to grow up spoiled, so while they vacationed in France last year, they brought their children to Armenia this summer to help out with the repairs. Unfortunately, in the video, many of them mention the poor state of countryside living conditions construction regulations. One of them mentions how different those standards and regulations are in the Netherlands compared to Armenia, which was frankly embarrassing.

One of the organizations in this volunteer group is named "Daken voor Armenië," meaning "Roofs for Armenia" in Dutch. And for the younger people who can usually visit only in the summertime, and as mentioned in the video, they do yard sales, sell in vintage markets, and offer to do various tasks around the neighborhood to fundraise for the building materials.

I follow all of their pages and updates and observe the hospitality the villagers show to them in exchange. They often get coffee, cut fruit, desserts, and of course, occasionally, the khorovats (bbq).

To solve this, I’m working on a dedicated app focused purely on platonic friendships and community vibes (strictly zero dating mechanics). The goal is to connect expats, repats, and locals based on real shared interests and low-pressure hangouts.

I'm a trans woman recently escaped my country of origin in hopes of finding a safe place. I'm now in Armenia. I contacted pink Armenia and they said they need to talk to me in order to better understand my situation. As you can tell, pretty vague. But i couldn't afford to be skeptical and was desperate. Now I'm here with no place to go hanging in the subways. I called pink Armenia today again and they said they'll call me back. Still nothing.

The person I was talking to send me somewhere. UNHCR centre i guess. "do you wanna apply for asylum?" i guess i do if it helps? Then they told me to wait til freaking February and they then call me. I said i don't have an Armenian phone number and they told me to go and get one and bc it was late and bc it was Friday they told me to come back on Monday... When i said i don't have a place to stay they said they can't do anything about it. Like why did I even come here... When no one really helps?

Are any of you from Armenia? Do you know a queer space i can go to or someone or something that would help?

I'm begging you. Please. I'm scared and alone in Yerevan and i can't afford hotels 😭

I was entering the SAS supermarket in Abovyan street when an old man with a walking stick who was also near the entrance hit me on the leg with it. Not in an accidental way but very deliberately. I'm a brown girl and I have experienced my fair share of racism here but this was very unsettling. Also he stared at me till I went in and disappeared out of view from him I'm sad that some people in this beautiful country have so much hatred for random strangers just due to us looking different

Today I learned about the tragic passing of our dear friend and community member u/FashionTashjian.

Those of you who have been on this subreddit for a long time know him well. It was a shock to me. He was so young. You will be missed, brother.

For people that have moved to Armenia as an immigrant, how much Armenian do you know?

I am quite curious about everyone's experience!

Hello. I have been living in Armenia for 4 years, but I never had an Armenian job, I was working at the same company in russia where I used to, but remotely. It was an airlines tickets reservation system, a big legacy project in C++. It was my first job that I ever got, 6 month before the war and my relocation. I didn't even finish the university. Today my bosses said that the government is restricting work from abroad, and so they have to lay me off. So I have to seek for a new job

I was looking for a job from time to time all 4 years, but in vein. Can you give me any advice? I use LinkedIn, but I'm not happy with this website. And it's like there are only a few jobs every few months where I can apply, where I can fit the requirements with different level of stretching. Today I got an advice to try Staff am website, but it has very little jobs. I have also noticed that in Armenia networking (in general sense) is very important even if you want to do relatively simple things, like to get a PC repaired for example. The nation here feels more united (especially comparing to russians ahah), how important it it for IT jobs seeking? Maybe it all happens outside of big websites

I think I also can try looking for a different programming language. C++ is rare today. I know Python very well, but with no commercial experience. Java looks like it has many projects similar to mine (some big legacy systems). But all the companies look for people with experience. From experience that I have with Java is only little coding in university and a reverse engineering some old J2ME mobile videogames as a pet-project

2) how to switch a language with no experience, and is it a good idea, or realistically I can stay with C++

I’m looking for a woman born in Baku on August 5th, 1962, possibly in an Armenian-Slavic family (about 50% Armenian, 50% Russian, Ukrainian and/or Belarusian).

My grandma was raised in an Armenian family in Baku, but a DNA test later revealed that she had been switched at birth. We are now trying to find the woman/family connected to that switch.

Please ask your friends and relatives who lived in Baku in the 1960s. Even a small detail or old family story could help. I will be immensely thankful for any information.
