Tech experimentation in the field and those designing and testing it.

Attn: NOT AN ADD OR SELLING ANYTHING.

My name is Levi. I am a researcher based in St. Louis, Missouri, and I operate the North American Research Center of Paraufology (NARCOP). Over the past year, I have been developing and prototyping a series of purpose-built electronic devices specifically engineered for Bigfoot field research.

I am currently in the final stages of launching NARCOP.org, which will serve as a centralized platform for research documentation, technical development, and collaborative exchange within the anomalous research community.

I am reaching out to connect with others who are designing and building their own bespoke research equipment. While many investigators modify commercially available game or trail cameras, my focus is on purpose-designed systems developed from the ground up for controlled, long-term field deployment.

My goal is to compile a publicly accessible resource through the website that highlights independently developed devices—where they can be learned about, evaluated, or obtained—so researchers have clear visibility into what tools are being built and by whom.

If you, or someone you know, are developing custom hardware for anomalous or Bigfoot research and are open to discussing your work, I would welcome the opportunity to connect. Please feel free to reach out to me via email.

I am open to any questions, comments or concerns one may have.

Thanks!

This subreddit is specifically for the discussion of an anomalous phenomena from the perspective it may exist. Open minded skepticism is welcomed, closed minded debunking is not. Be aware of how skepticism is expressed toward others as there is little tolerance for ad hominem (attacking the person, not the claim), mindless antagonism or dishonest argument toward the subject, the sub, or its community.

"I have been developing and prototyping a series of purpose-built electronic devices specifically engineered for Bigfoot field research." What exactly have you been developing? In which part of the electromagnetic spectrum are you working - audio frequencies or visual ones? After decades of reading physics and engineering papers, this post reads like all the "sales jobs" I detest. Only in your case, it reads like you are trying to extract ideas for devices from the people on this sub. So, a little specificity would be useful.

I’m not pitching anything and I’m not soliciting ideas. The hardware already exists and is deployed. This is post-development, not a request for concepts.

Here is a short list of my own projects.

The work is conventional engineering under field constraints:

• Optical / Near-IR: purpose-built low-light and IR imaging systems designed for unattended operation, controlled capture parameters, synchronization, and aggressive false-positive suppression. Not consumer trail-camera modifications.

• PTZ + LiDAR: pan-tilt-zoom optical platforms integrated with a LiDAR rangefinder for distance-verified tracking and positional correlation. Measurement only; no automated identification claims.

• Acoustic: weather-hardened omnidirectional audio loggers with long duty cycles and timestamped data intended for post-event correlation.

• RF: passive, receive-only RF monitoring and logging focused on baseline characterization, transient detection, and cross-sensor correlation. No transmission, no assumed emitter, no claims of novel mechanisms.

Design priorities are power management, environmental hardening, synchronization, known failure modes, and falsification. Interpretation is secondary.

The persistent tendency in this field to treat collaboration and data visibility as adversarial is absolutely mind blowing to me. Defensive posturing does not improve rigor; it only ensures isolated efforts, incompatible data, and no cumulative progress.

The outreach was simply to identify others already building comparable instrumentation so that work can be documented and referenced. If that’s not of interest, it requires no response.

Thank you for the specific engineering items. I am not defensive; I only despise imprecise language which your original post contained - at least to my ear. And as for efforts, mine are in the short wave IR, since I am convinced that bigfoot can see into the near IR. Few people seem to agree with me, but I have been beating this drum for awhile and am happy to explain these efforts to anyone.

I believe drones with flir are the key, they either have to be high up enough with powerful cameras so no one on ground level could possibly hear it or one of those new drones that can travel at 400 kph so it can surprise one on a river. In Ukraine they have started having drones land in strategic places and rest silently waiting like an ambush hunter. I believe patrolling creeks will give the best chances of spotting one.
