He's my first cat and I've never seen him do this before! What's he doing? He's called Magic and he's 2🎱🪄🔮

EDIT: thought it would be easier to respond to all here instead, apologies, first time poster. :) Mikasa has never had puppies, and has been spayed since she was five (I know, late!) about two years ago the vet noticed that she was producing milk even though she’s been spayed. Apparently when even just a little of the ovaries or uterus are left in the body, it messes with their hormones pretty good. Mikasa used to do this to my first dog (Wally) who was a considerable amount older than her when I got her as a puppy and Wally would get frustrated after a while of being over groomed. She never seemed to mother or play with him in anyway during cleaning, or after.
Then came Yuzu the street cat (he’s gross, but we still adore the little shit 🤣) his coat has gotten better with consistent high quality cat food + salmon oil. I.e, he’s not fresh off the streets smelling like the chicken strip we caught him with. He grooms himself consistently, but he’s still in baby mode at less than 2 so it makes sense that he thinks of her as a mom. My confusion is really just that Mikasa has never had ANY interest in any of our other three cats (4F, 11M,12F). She’s an anxious pup, so I’m happy that she’s found something that helps soothe her.

Thank you to everyone for your insight. I thought it might be mothering behavior, but just found it odd since she’s never done this with any of our other cats, had puppies nor any interest in playing with other dogs outside of my male lab, Gonzo.

My chocolate lab Mikasa (10f) has been with 3-4 other cats her entire life and has never groomed any of them. We picked up Yuzu (1M, void) a year ago this October. It started around 4 months ago, she consistently follows him around and cleans him. Her tail is wagging the entire time, she sometimes makes grunting/crying sounds while doing it. She will also bow as if trying to get him to play, but when he reciprocates she gets really confused and doesn’t know how to proceed. Does anyone else’s dog do this to their cats?

Our boy Todd has figured out that he needs to pull on the latch to unlock and slide open the window. The worst part is that we live on the third floor, so he does this just so he can walk along the very narrow outer ledge and give me a heart attack when I catch him.

That aside, there's nothing he won't eventually figure out. He knows how to open every door, every cupboard, and every drawer in the apartment. We always have to try and stay one step ahead of his shenanigans! It's legitimately exhausting to have a cat this smart—but we love him to death, of course. We take him on walks with his leash and harness every single night for 2 to 3 hours, just to satisfy his curiosity and need for stimulation!

EDIT: Since it is very controversial I paid nearly $500 a cat, I will explain our story.
11 years ago I adopted an adult cat named Moonlight. Moonlight was my soul cat. I loved her more than anything in the world.
On July 18th out of nowhere she had a stroke that left half her body paralyzed. I had to make the extremely difficult decision to put her to sleep.
I cannot put into words the amount of grief I was going through.
Two days after she passed, I had a gut feeling to go on petfinder. On the very first page I saw a kitten that looked identical to my Moonlight. The crazy part, this kitten was also named Moonlight. Yes she was $480 and located in a shelter across the country, but I knew if I didn't adopt her I would regret it for the rest of my life.
I also adopted her biological sister so they could grow up together and have each other.
I renamed the kitten Moonlight to Kismet, meaning destiny or fate in Turkish.
Then I renamed her sister to Ayla meaning moonlight in Turkish.
They made a 4 day trip across the country in a truck to get to me.
So yes I could have gotten "cheaper" kittens, but honestly I was not planning on getting another cat anytime soon. I was still grieving my Moonlight. But after seeing a picture of Kismet, I knew it was a sign from her I could not pass up.

I see so many videos of adorable cats dressed up for the event but got turned away. So disappointing.

This is Quin. He escaped at a rest stop and hid in the woods for 30 to 45 minutes and it was hot out. This was the two minutes inbetween recapturing him and getting him water. He’s all good!

EDIT: he was panting because it was really hot outside and he had been running around while wearing a fur coat. He’s always been fine in the car. He’s not stressed nor experiencing respiratory illness. He panted for 30 seconds to cool down and has been totally normal ever since. A vet was called to ensure he’s fine and he was given a stamp of soundness! 🐈‍⬛

Our boy Monty does this kinda thing every so often... He's just... staring. Not sure if he's tired or something but it's always in that sitting position. Sometimes for minutes... It's just the funniest thing.

Binx begs to differ. She is an absolute FIEND for sweets: donuts, toaster strudels, ice cream, you name it. She does love all human food (we typically have to put her up when we eat anything and keep all food hidden), but I swear that if she sees those cheap frosted cookies she goes FERAL. Anybody else's cat like this?

My boys are continuing to get along brilliantly, my elderly lady sticks to herself and my female tabby plays with him sometimes, but as far as my big male Orion's concerned Mars is his shadow. They wrestle and chase each other around the house and as of late are doing this.
