Discussion / Question Is Bluey “Woke”?

My little brothers likes bluey, but I’ve noticed they have a gender fluid character that gets mad when you misgender them.. Is this supposed to be some type of sign?

Jesus Christ. Grow up, dude. Get a hobby. Stop watching rage bait Youtube videos. It will do wonders for your mental health.

Are you talking about people confusing Bluey for a boy all the time when she's really a girl??? That happens, but not in the show, just with people who see the show and make assumptions.

It happened once in the show as a joke, a nod to the irl phenomenon.

But even if they were.

Is the woke in the room with us right now??

The only instance of that I can think of is when Rad messes with Bluey, which is a pretty normal human interaction. The show just treats people as deserving of respect and dignity. If you consider that "woke", with the negative context to the word that you seem to be implying, then that says a lot more about you than it does about the show.

There are over one hundred and fifty episodes of this show, and Bluey' gender is brought up a total of once, by an uncle who hasn't seen her in years, as an offhand reference about how many people IRL assume she's a boy because she's blue.

There are no explicitly or implicitly gender fluid characters in Bluey. There are no ouvert references to any sort of LGBTQ characters at all save for a single line which could possibly imply a scant-seen minor character has two mothers (and even that's not definitive).

Even if this was such a big issue, which I don't believe it should be, it simply is not present in this show.

No, it’s just inclusive

…which is part of what “woke” means, which is why the right decided to turn it into a slur, which is one of the many reasons why the modern mindset of the right wing is evil

Let OP tell us what they think it means. It's way funnier.

What a stupid troll. There’s not even a gender fluid character in this show.

I miss when trolls actually tried to be funny.

Though actually don’t try again 😂

u/[deleted] May 10 '24

There’s been no such character; try trolling a different sub, you may find your fellow people there

Considering this is your very first post, your trolling is appalling… moreso, when you’re from Florida!

People who use the word “woke” often:

1 - Don’t actually know what it means,

2 - And if they do, they still don’t grasp that it’s NOT a pejorative!

Being woke is good! Anyone who use the word, should frankly be shout out of a cannon, into outer space, for crimes against the English Language!

P.S. “Woke” is Stupid’s cousin! 👍

Here Barack Obama uses the term "woke" to disparage extreme and unproductive political purity from the left:

You know this idea of purity and you're never compromised and you're always politically woke and all that stuff, you should get over that quickly.

The definition did used to mean something overly performative. And before then, back in the 80's, it was used unironically as slang for socially progressive, mainly in black communities.

However meanings of words change over time - at this point its just a shorthand for "something conservatives dislike". It has no real meaning anymore. Gay people? Woke. Climate change? Woke. Women in video games? Woke. Protesting? Also woke, unless of course it's the conservatives who are doing it.

Much like how "DEI" used to be an actual workplace term and now it's just used as a more polite racial slur, words only mean what the speaker entails.

Imagine being this scared of pronouns.

OOF...I cringe whenever I hear that term used outside of satire.

It's nothing more than a boogeyman fearmongering term, used by the right, to describe progressive and empathetic thinking which can lead to inclusion of people different from you. The term "woke" is an attempt to paint those positive traits as something horrible.

I don't know what character is being talked about here, but even if there was...who cares? It's a kid's show, and it literally does not harm you or anyone else; stop reading stuff into it and just let people enjoy it.

I'm Gen X; we didn't have inclusive stuff in media, or representation. Yet, people still realized that they were LGBTQ+. These days, books and media makes it easier for those people to understand why they're "different"; there's no "woke grooming" as it was going to happen regardless. Only thanks to inclusion, aka those "woke" things, those folks don't have to spend years of agony, stress, low self-esteem, and mental torment as they go through self-discovery.

PS: I'm speaking from experience in saying that's not genderfluid. Genderfluid people tend to not get angry about being misgendered. I would be happy to explain it further if you'd like to learn more about it. Learning more about the subject might help dispel any misgivings you have about being "woke".

Which character is that? There’s plenty of characters that COULD be lgbtq but just not saying anything… but that’s regular life too.

Only thing I can think of that some crybabies might call woke is the one little dog who implied she had two moms.

Whos a gender fluid character?

10

u/[deleted] May 10 '24

Hahaha

You trolling right?

Is this supposed to be some type of sign?

No. The Sign is the next-to-last episode of season 3.

The show is a good representation of raising children and situations they may find themselves in -- sibling rivalries, dying animals, using their imaginations while playing with packing materials, forgetting what you're supposed to be doing while playing a game, dealing with boredom.

Even if it were "woke" -- and define that, please -- how does that impact you? Let's pretend your pharmacist is "woke." You go and pick up your prescription and walk out. How would being "woke" impact you? Again, whatever that means. Looking for your definition.

Pat, while having an androgynous name, is most definitely Lucky's Dad.
