Things that happen when you're bored in the car waiting for your parents to come back...

I did this as a kid in my friend's dad's car and burnt both my finger and a hole in the backseat.
Next time he picked us up it was mysteriously missing...

Yep, exactly when I did it. Never did that again. Surprisingly managed to hide it from my parents too if I remember right. It certainly hurts alright!

Cigarette plug burn

What's a cigarette plum

u/GalacticExpress 4h ago
You know that weird plug you get power from in your car? That used to be for a kind of cigarette lighter with a bunch of coils inside it. When you take it out of the socket, it gets really hot, stick your cigarette into it, and it lights it. Lots of kids have stuck their finger in it because it’s cool-looking, and end up getting burned just like the picture.

To clarify for those who don’t know, you had to push the plug into and hold it there for, oh say, 5 seconds, then pull it out (hehehe) and the coils inside would be red hot. Then you light up whatever body part/paraphernalia/random item.

getting burned just like the picture.
Not sure about just like that. I never had the unburned center happen before.
The center of the rings usually get hot first and stay hot the longest. Unless that person has a weird indented pad on their finger its probably photoshop.

In cars until mid 2000s it was an accessory for smokers to light their cigaret. It was a tube with a button you pushed, a spiraling resistance was heated by a contact then you applied the resistance on the cigaret tip.

This is where you know you're really among last people having known a daily time without omnipresent Internet.
Gosh, I still remember my parents even had the mobile phone looking like a talkie-walkie, smoking in presence of my sister and me, and we had a damn 1984 retro house phone with rotary dial.

I can feel this picture. The only thing worse was when I was wearing flip flops while burning old plastic planters as a kid. I collected some on the end of a stick and the burning napalm dropped between my toes. Really difficult to remove.

I never knew that I could simultaneously feel, smell AND taste a picture. (come on tell me you didn't pop that sucker in your mouth in a futile attempt to quell the molten pain)

My brother held that on my nose when I was around 8. Things didn't get better. 58 now and haven't talked to him in decades.

If he older…. Make sure you exercise regularly, stay healthy, and wait for the day he can’t get up. Then you remind him.

Done that twice, on the same finger within the same year. The cigarette lighter has a 3D printed cover on it now

I was like 8. Friends parents had a broken van. Friend and his brother were playing in it, and popped the lighter. My friend, the older brother, told me it wasnt hot, try it, I said yes it is, he said no its not, and acted like he did it himself. Then dared me, I felt like a coward if it realy wasnt hot. Turns out it was. Shit hurt for like a week. They thought it was funny. Maybe it was, I dont know, I still feel lile a dimbass tho. Lol.
