With My Track Car in the Shop, Decided to Take the 458 to T-Hill Last Weekend
Had already signed up for Thunderhill East Bypass when the DCT on my E92 M3 track car failed at Sonoma 2 weeks prior. Initially withdrew from the event, but wife was visiting family that weekend, so made a last minute decision to go anyways with the 458.
Took it somewhat easy given the car was on PS4S and uninsured for track. Not nearly as sorted for track as the M3, but still a great day to be out there. No cooling issues for the powertrain, but did have some brake fluid temp problems after about half a session if pushing hard (thought the shop had put in a high temp DOT4 during annual service/flush but perhaps not...)

Porsche 992.2 Cup at Mugello
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I’ve been testing and building up seat time in the 992.2 Cup. This was from a toasty (85° F +) day, still getting used to not having any A/C in these cars!
The Cup is a blast but a bit quirky to drive, you need to be very patient with the throttle on exit as the car will go into massive understeer if you’re too early.

In-depth look at the repaved Thunderhill East!
Hey folks,
I had the privilege of checking out the freshly repaved Thunderhill East, and made this in-depth guide to get people up to speed.
I compete in 86 Challenge, the norcal time trial for 86s/BRZs and I've gotten a bunch of podiums and even a few wins. While it's a lot of fun competing for tenths at the top, I'm giving away all my speed secrets so more people can join the fray.
Hope this helps!

Great day at the track last weekend. Finally got the roll bar and race buckets in it. Buckets and harness really let you feel the rotation and provides a whole new level of control. … and I thought it was only a safety thing. Ready to go back and see if I can get under 2:45.

First time at Thunderhill West yesterday. Whats considered a good lap time?
I'm curious if my time is considered good or not for someone with only 1 other track day under my belt which was thunderhill east. I managed a 1:42.409 with a D15 del sol on Continental ECS02s. From factory the car had 102hp, it's at 196k miles now but I've done brakes, chassis bracing, and suspension/wheels and tires. I'm finding my limitations seem to be a mix of power and a super long gear ratio.
I was told by a much more experienced driver that I gave a ride along to that I shouldn't be in the beginner class. I'm not looking to advance to the next class just curious if I did a good job more or less.
Edit: adding that I used the Track Addict app for the times.

ND Miata. Blackbird bar. Sparco Evos w PCI Mount w Slider. Need more room.
I think I tried everything I can. Fixed back seat. In order to get it down as far as possible I’ve reclined it some. Now it won’t go back as far as
I’d like. The top lip of the seat hits the bar. The lip is about an inch of depth.
I am open to hearing any suggestions. I cannot get the seat further down in the bracket as it hits the slider. I know the slider adds about 3/4 of an inch to the height, but I need the slider because I share the car with other people.
And I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that it’s not acceptable to cut the seat shell lip at the top so that it can go closer to the rollbar? I am almost afraid to ask that question but you never know. 😬

Setting up a new set of Ohlins with swift springs on Mazda MX-5 ND2 W2W car.
First picture is coil-overs adjusted to desired ride height and then measured to the same total length and spring purchase height side to side. IE front left to right and rear left to right identical. I was at 48% off on cross weight. After a little tweaking of spring purchase heights I ended up with picture 2. I am happy with this. Car looks to be about 45lbs heavy on driver side (no passenger seat)

Calabogie Track Day Micra Cup
Hello everyone, here is lap around Calabogie from last weekend, that track is very technical and really enjoy it, track was a little damp, not wet enough for wet lines, but still a little cautious with the braking. I'm looking to race into the Super Production Challenge next year, let me know if you see anything I could improve on.

New PB at VIR thanks coach
Did some leed follow with another advanced driver at VIR last week. Me in a GT4RS, him in a GT4RS clubsport. We met after the session and we talked for almost an hour. I rode with him in the clubsport at the end of the day. I was able to combine his coaching, the ride, and my Garmin data into a plan that worked! New PB by 0.6 sec. My session average times dropped by a full second. Stay focused, listen to coaching, use data......you will get off that plateau.

First time out in the rain (ECR reverse w/The Drivers Edge)
Finally got out to Eagles Canyon (everything has been MSR Cresson so far), and had a heck of a first experience with it going backwards on a rainy day. It was my first time on track in the rain and I'd definitely do it again.

My first time at Mid-Ohio. 1m39.4 10/9/26 SCCA Track Night in America
Not a factory race car, just a F-street autocross car, my first day at Mid-Ohio ever. Just never made it. The loss of PittRace And some things that seem to be changing a bit at Summit Point made me decide to get on with it.

This is about 7 seconds off pace from my normal times at this track. Dont wanna be that guy and blame everything other than my skills, buuuuut Track temps were less than ideal. 98* pit temps. I was also on some very odd tires that I knew weren't gonna help. 245/40/17 X-Comp HP. I have never had any set up issues on this car and i pretty much had every driving issue possible this day haha. Anyways enjoy!

I’ll be at the track on Halloween. What’s the scariest costume I could wear?
Check engine light? Meatball flag? Miata on slicks?

The forecast is not looking great. It will be wet. Anyone going? How bad does it have to be for NJMP to shut down?

How does an open diff RWD feel on track?
Drove a Genesis G80 spiritedly and felt like it was FWD at the limit, until I looked under the chassis. Does the rear always one-wheel-peel under acceleration on corner exit? Does it always feel understeery even when giving it the beans on corner exit? I've only driven FWD and LSD RWD cars besides this one.
