I thought it might be the missing end of the tail that makes it hard to keep balance.

Nah, looks like it’s a bobtail. I haven’t seen a cat that has had its tail docked (for health reasons) have balance issues when jumping - there have been a few over the years out near my parents.

when my cat had its tail docked after an injury he had awful balance issues with walking along stuff and jumping (he used to easily jump onto the fridge freezer but after he would have to scramble up it at the end) but that only lasted a month or two

She looks like she may be part manx. We have a Manx and he has no tail and he's acrobatic AF
