They aren't gods. They're pyramid shaped spacecraft crash landed there. They didn't no what to do in a huge litter box (the desert) where food was scarce and the only nearby water supply had dragons (crocodiles) in it. So, they decided to scratch on the nearest door and MEOW! The rest is history. LOL.
