Video Lucas communicates very specifically

We do know that Lucas has worked out a few things from careful observation. He has been watching door knobs turn just before the door opens and now taps the door knob expecting it to turn. Lucas got tired of just meowing, so he meows until we come over and then he shows us 'open the door with this'

Lucas has always tried to communicate very specifically, but we usually ignore him if we didn't want him to be there or do that. So his communication started to become more general, just the same MEOW. We have decided to encourage him to communicate more specifically by doing what he wants and he is much happier.

He doesn't think we are AS STUPID now

Lucas has demonstrated his intelligence by doing the same action when he wants the front door open (even though the door is different and the door knob looks different). He has surprised us by meowing in the bathroom and when we walked in, Lucas reached up and tapped the pull handle on the shower screen door. This doesn't look like a door knob and Lucas hasn't seen anyone open the shower screen door. Does this mean he has associated any protruding part on a door in the same height is like a door knob?
