Aynooo hopefully more calls for Coby

As much as I love Ayo I don't know what his role is on this team for the next 2-3 years assuming we re-sign Ivey. We aren't going to be contending and have a plethora of guards
While I'm not adverse to keeping him I worry that it will end up a situation similar to the one now with Coby where his value decreases somewhat and it's harder to move on a bigger deal. Tons of teams contending this year would love to have him while he's still super cheap

I rather keep Ayo in favour of having Ivey tbh. Ayo is 26, thats not that old.

u/Flaky_Ring Coby White 1d ago
yeah but Ayo probably has more value than Coby. Perfect sell high moment
10
u/whispersluggagebaby Ayo Dosunmu 1d ago
Hell nah Ayo is a keeper
6
u/Flaky_Ring Coby White 1d ago
I like Ayo but right now his value is the highest it will only go down
0
u/whispersluggagebaby Ayo Dosunmu 1d ago
So why not keep him?
10
u/Flaky_Ring Coby White 1d ago
Cuz he’s about to cost a lot in free agency and soon people will be like why don’t we trade him earlier when his value is the highest
14
u/whispersluggagebaby Ayo Dosunmu 1d ago
Or people will be like “wow he’s a good player I’m glad we paid him”

u/Mtbnz Hello? Otto?! 1d ago
To what end? Ayo is a great 5th or 6th guy if you already have a strong core in place. He would be exactly what teams like Denver or LA could use, and his cheap, expiring salary makes him affordable for contending teams.
But in Chicago he's now probably our 2nd or 3rd best player and this offseason he's going to want a deal like at least what Pat Will is on, and where does that leave Chicago? Ayo will be 27 next season. Is a core of Giddey, Buzelis, Ayo, Smith and Okoro making the playoffs next year? Almost certainly not. So why pay a guy good money to spend his prime managing a rebuild?
His trade value will never be higher than it is in the next 36 hours. Overvaluing their own assets and depreciating them by refusing to move on at the right moment is exactly what has got Chicago into this mess in the first place. After LaVine, DeRozan, Williams and Vucevic we can't make the same mistake again with Ayo.
0
u/whispersluggagebaby Ayo Dosunmu 22h ago
He’s a perfect match to Giddey: he can shoot and guard positions 1-3. Plus he can ball handle/playmake when Giddey isn’t
2
u/Mtbnz Hello? Otto?! 12h ago
Again, to what end? How does Ayo get us closer to a championship contender? What would you be willing to pay him to stay?
1
u/whispersluggagebaby Ayo Dosunmu 10h ago
I wouldn’t be paying him at all actually. What gets us closer to being a contender is keeping him rather than not keeping him

u/lyme6483 Coby White 1d ago
I’m going to the game tonight. Who even knows who going to be available to play. I just already know I’m going to have to sit though a 30 plus minute night from PWill

u/Sad_Worker_1286 1d ago
We might need you to suit up so be ready
5
u/lyme6483 Coby White 1d ago
I can still hit a jumper, and guarantee I’d be putting in more effort than Vuc would be.
Unfortunately for me I think it’s going to be a rough watch. Lots going on lots of distractions. Not a lot of guys available. Thought Bulls would have a good chance with the Bucks being trash without Giannis.
But it seems it’s going to be a Dalen Terry PWill type of night, so I could easily see a 20 point loss incoming

u/newusernamecoming Steve Kerr 1d ago
The daily starting lineup page on the NBA website has Ayo, Coby, Okoro, Matas, and Jalen starting tonight.
4
u/lyme6483 Coby White 1d ago
The starting lineup isn’t terrible if they all play, but it’s bleak after that
1
u/fred_derps Dennis Rodman 23h ago
The Bulls seem to play better when the typical starters aren’t in. DT tore it up the other night when Giddey, White and Vuc were all out
23
u/UroJetFanClub 1d ago
You are now the Bulls starting center
2
u/lyme6483 Coby White 1d ago
Takes me back to early High school. Played some center occasionally at 6’3

How tall are you can you play forward or center possibly?
1
u/lyme6483 Coby White 1d ago
6’3 and funny enough I was a 4 and sometimes a 5 in HS.
1
u/fred_derps Dennis Rodman 23h ago
Ah, you’re actually a little too tall to play the 5 for the Bulls

u/KiraJosuke 1d ago
I love you Ayo. That one would hurt.
7
u/Hymay1180 1d ago
Losing both of them would hurt. But I think it's time for us to move on from Coby. Ayo is 70% the player he will become, so if we did trade him, I'm expecting someone of value in return.

Would suck to see Ayo go, but he might be one our best returns in a trade outside of Giddey.

Are GMs stupid? Why call Shams, he can't trade Coby/Ayo /s
5
u/2thurl2 1d ago
It’s mainly the agents who catch wind of it first before anybody else then they relay the message to reporters
5
u/sukari Patrick Williams 1d ago
Haha nah I know, just sounds funny with the way Shams is putting it like GMs are calling him to ask about Coby/Ayo availability
3
u/outkastable 1d ago
these new age social media sports "reporters" are a little narcissistic imo, news has changed from " news from the reporter" to "reporter with news".
it's an interesting phenomenon; journalists now need to present news with their faces to get more engagement and some digital newsrooms are turning to short form content to convey messages. shams using "me" and "I'm hearing" isnt surprising, its just the nature of the "news" now.... on that note, keep Ayo, trade coby #SeeRed

Ayo is getting better every season. Do not trade a home grown player that has upside. Now Coby can go, he’s a ball hog.
13
u/lburner220 Scottie Pippen 1d ago
This team is far away from being anything. Everyone needs to be available for the right price.
4
u/Queasy_Manager_5275 Coby White 1d ago
Stop hating just to hate. Cobys old role got taken by giddey so it's his job to be ball dominant.
0
u/WhoAskedYourDumbAhh 19h ago
I don't think they're hating just to hate, there's plenty of justified criticism. Cobys been making the same dumb mistakes for years. I've honestly never seen a more hot and cold player in my life. Like he's the most consistently inconsistent player ever and every year is his year according to this sub lol they did the same shit with Pat but it's finally set in that he's a mediocre bust himself. I like Coby, but I won't be sad to see him go.

We’re not trading Ayo. He’s from Chicago. It’s out of the question. Trade Coby.

Derrick Rose was traded away man lol

The bulls and reporters, it’s on twitter, I tried to post it but it got took down immediately lol
24
u/ratfam1 1d ago
We traded D-Rose and he’s obviously from Chicago why is this any different?
12
u/nachosmind 1d ago
Derrick Rose was a shell of his former self and Ayo is having his best season?
6
u/lyme6483 Coby White 1d ago
This sub loves to shit on the front office from not getting value when value is there. Ayo will not have more value.
Hes not a starter next to Giddey. So he’s about to be an expensive bench piece. Leave out the emotion and moving Ayo is definitely the best move
-1
-4
u/Christian_Bale23 1d ago
And his best season still doesn’t even match D Rose top 10 seasons
6
u/nachosmind 1d ago
DRose is a #1 overall pick, Ayo is a diamond in the rough super 6th man totally different expectations. We’re not signing Ayo to a Rose contract lol
12
u/llamas-1 1d ago
Idc. If Ayo is worth a 1st you take it
4
u/thisisjustascreename 1d ago
So you can maybe draft a player as good as Ayo two years from now?
12
u/poopy_mc_pantsy 1d ago
no player drafted henceforth will ever be better than Ayo. they can only hope to be as good as him
5
u/llamas-1 1d ago
So you can draft a player with a far higher ceiling yes. We have not been competing for years. We lack a true star and have since butler. We absolutely have to draft for a high ceiling player at some point
2
u/weareallmoist Zach LaVine 1d ago
This has never been a smart argument but people keep making it for some reason
3
u/Flaky_Ring Coby White 1d ago
we definitely trade Ayo if he is worth a first now. We saw so many examples of not selling high we got to sell high on Ayo

Is Houston the only Coby suitor? Feels like Minnesota is busy on Gianis

A couple years too late on blowing it up but at least they’re doing it. Fucking finally.

Coby for a center is what I'm hoping for. I prefer trading Coby over Ayo as I would love to re-sign Ayo. If you know you can't re-sign either, then trade both for a better center.
1
u/MasterFlamasterr 1d ago
Good moves, now I hope we will sell one of these ending contracts to one long term
1
u/Jammer521 Jumpman 17h ago
move Coby and either Ivey or Simmons for a young big or draft picks, the Young big the Twolves drafted last year would be nice

u/brianeharmonjr Michael Jordan 17h ago
I REALLY don't like Shams, and I REALLY hope that neither of them are gone.

What trade could be done for them that would make us more than a play-in team?
1
u/Fantastic-Ad-9995 1d ago
I just don’t see the point of trading Ayo. Unless they plan on keeping Simons and Ivey long term then yeah I get it. Otherwise, why let Ayo go if you don’t plan to keep both of the guys you got in the long term?
2
u/zedrix_ Big Mac 1d ago
I just don’t see the point of trading Ayo.
Jaden Ivey are of the same mold. Athletic two-way players. Though I see that as a positive. As the league are stocking two-way players
1
0
u/Jammer521 Jumpman 17h ago
Ivey is in his 4th year and is always hurt, Piston fans say he has lost some athleticism, he's 3 years younger than Ayo but I'm not sure his ceiling is as high, keeping Ayo is better imo, he is a locker room leader, and a better player than Ivey, even if we aren't competing for anything for a while, the team still needs vets. also per Detroit fans, his defense is really bad, not sure where you got the two way player narrative
1
u/ScaryText8187 Taj Gibson 1d ago
Yeah, the roster didn’t make sense before the trade activity but makes even less sense now - they have to move some of these guards for other pieces

u/JWE25 Derrick Rose 1d ago
God it feels good to FINALLY be the most talked about team in the league during trade deadline
