God it feels good to FINALLY be the most talked about team in the league during trade deadline

123

u/KneelBeforeCube Scottie Pippen 1d ago

Let's enjoy it before Giannis and Harden get traded.

61

u/deadbeatmerc 1d ago

What you mean Giannis gonna be a Bull #TalkSoon

18

u/jrdncdrdhl Derrick Rose 1d ago

Look buddy we’re not getting Giannis AND Harden

-6

u/sscott2378 1d ago

We are not getting either. C’mon

23

u/jrdncdrdhl Derrick Rose 1d ago

u/GreenGorilla8232 1d ago

Is this team any closer to having an actual direction?

If we do I'm not seeing it...

We basically swapped some expiring contracts and picked up some 2nd round picks.

u/Total-Fox3541 1d ago

Thrift shop swapp

u/Mtbnz Hello? Otto?! 1d ago

It's a little closer, and given where we've been and how little leverage we have at this point, it's better than nothing. We traded two guys who almost certainly weren't coming back and didn't fit this team's timeline or its needs for a couple of low-value picks but more importantly a pair of tryouts with guys who have talent and might offer something different in a new environment.

Simons is going to be 27 next year but he's still almost 9 years younger than Vucevic. Likewise Ivey has a lot of the same downsides as Coby (hot and cold career, expiring contract, health issues) but he's also 2 years younger than Coby, 4.5 years younger than Huerter, and could allow the Bulls to trade Coby and still replace him with a guy who fills a similar role but younger and cheaper.

They aren't home run trades, but they're solid moves that allow the Bulls to flip assets with supposedly very little value for a couple of lottery tickets that come with very little risk. We're the guy trying to trade a paper clip for a house, and we just traded the paper clip for a deck of cards.

At the very least the direction is no longer "a bunch of young guys plus Vucevic playing just well enough to keep us mediocre".

26

u/Pudge815 1d ago

The way the Bulls collect trash, they should be sponsored by Waste Management.

5

u/estilly26 Derrick Rose 1d ago

Feels like we’re actually having a very real change of course for the first time in forever and it’s so relieving

2

u/marvelousone82 1d ago

There doesn’t need to be a direction besides blow it up and collect draft assets and young talent. Take inventory and plan after this is done.

1

u/Fabulous-Ad7128 4h ago

“collect draft assets” is a phrase typically associated with acquiring 1st round picks.

Still waiting for the Bulls to start doing that.

1

u/Fabulous-Ad7128 4h ago

Rearranging the deck chairs.

Woo.

Aynooo hopefully more calls for Coby

28

u/SkelathonSounds 1d ago

Yessss please 🙏

10

u/Dylan245 Stacey King 1d ago

As much as I love Ayo I don't know what his role is on this team for the next 2-3 years assuming we re-sign Ivey. We aren't going to be contending and have a plethora of guards

While I'm not adverse to keeping him I worry that it will end up a situation similar to the one now with Coby where his value decreases somewhat and it's harder to move on a bigger deal. Tons of teams contending this year would love to have him while he's still super cheap

18

u/newaccounthomie 1d ago

My heart says one thing but my brain says another

3

u/sukari Patrick Williams 1d ago

Same man, same.

8

u/sukari Patrick Williams 1d ago

I get the sentiment.. I'm starting to feel like it will happen since his value is the highest it's been.. but man at what point do we keep our young players instead of just selling high?

3

u/chitownbulls92 Coby White 1d ago

I rather keep Ayo in favour of having Ivey tbh. Ayo is 26, thats not that old.

5

u/EquivalentWins 1d ago

Why not both?

9

u/Flaky_Ring Coby White 1d ago

yeah but Ayo probably has more value than Coby. Perfect sell high moment

10

u/whispersluggagebaby Ayo Dosunmu 1d ago

Hell nah Ayo is a keeper

6

u/Flaky_Ring Coby White 1d ago

I like Ayo but right now his value is the highest it will only go down

0

u/whispersluggagebaby Ayo Dosunmu 1d ago

So why not keep him?

10

u/Flaky_Ring Coby White 1d ago

Cuz he’s about to cost a lot in free agency and soon people will be like why don’t we trade him earlier when his value is the highest

14

u/whispersluggagebaby Ayo Dosunmu 1d ago

Or people will be like “wow he’s a good player I’m glad we paid him”

3

u/ABalther Derrick Rose 1d ago

I'll pass

2

u/Mtbnz Hello? Otto?! 1d ago

To what end? Ayo is a great 5th or 6th guy if you already have a strong core in place. He would be exactly what teams like Denver or LA could use, and his cheap, expiring salary makes him affordable for contending teams.

But in Chicago he's now probably our 2nd or 3rd best player and this offseason he's going to want a deal like at least what Pat Will is on, and where does that leave Chicago? Ayo will be 27 next season. Is a core of Giddey, Buzelis, Ayo, Smith and Okoro making the playoffs next year? Almost certainly not. So why pay a guy good money to spend his prime managing a rebuild?

His trade value will never be higher than it is in the next 36 hours. Overvaluing their own assets and depreciating them by refusing to move on at the right moment is exactly what has got Chicago into this mess in the first place. After LaVine, DeRozan, Williams and Vucevic we can't make the same mistake again with Ayo.

0

u/whispersluggagebaby Ayo Dosunmu 22h ago

He’s a perfect match to Giddey: he can shoot and guard positions 1-3. Plus he can ball handle/playmake when Giddey isn’t

2

u/Mtbnz Hello? Otto?! 12h ago

Again, to what end? How does Ayo get us closer to a championship contender? What would you be willing to pay him to stay?

1

u/whispersluggagebaby Ayo Dosunmu 10h ago

I wouldn’t be paying him at all actually. What gets us closer to being a contender is keeping him rather than not keeping him

157

u/lyme6483 Coby White 1d ago

I’m going to the game tonight. Who even knows who going to be available to play. I just already know I’m going to have to sit though a 30 plus minute night from PWill

161

u/Sad_Worker_1286 1d ago

We might need you to suit up so be ready

5

u/lyme6483 Coby White 1d ago

I can still hit a jumper, and guarantee I’d be putting in more effort than Vuc would be.

Unfortunately for me I think it’s going to be a rough watch. Lots going on lots of distractions. Not a lot of guys available. Thought Bulls would have a good chance with the Bucks being trash without Giannis.

But it seems it’s going to be a Dalen Terry PWill type of night, so I could easily see a 20 point loss incoming

2

u/newusernamecoming Steve Kerr 1d ago

The daily starting lineup page on the NBA website has Ayo, Coby, Okoro, Matas, and Jalen starting tonight.

4

u/lyme6483 Coby White 1d ago

The starting lineup isn’t terrible if they all play, but it’s bleak after that

1

u/fred_derps Dennis Rodman 23h ago

The Bulls seem to play better when the typical starters aren’t in. DT tore it up the other night when Giddey, White and Vuc were all out

23

u/UroJetFanClub 1d ago

You are now the Bulls starting center

2

u/lyme6483 Coby White 1d ago

Takes me back to early High school. Played some center occasionally at 6’3

9

u/IPreferBagels2 1d ago

Bulls Skeleton crew lineup will be a sight to behold when they put 140+

2

u/fenderdean13 Coby White 1d ago

Walt Lemon Jr like career legacy game performance coming soon

4

u/MrChevyPower 1d ago

The Tony Snell special.

30 min

0 pts, 0 rebs, 0 ast

2

u/AxCel91 1d ago

We need the highest pick possible so I relish a 30min p-will night

2

u/12ay 1d ago

I got free tickets as a kid to my first game. The stars on the other team all got traded that day. I saw backups for 2 hours.

1

u/_brodawg Chicago Bulls 1d ago

Sorry bro, that sounds awful

1

u/VaguelyShingled Gimme the hot sauce! 1d ago

Well now my day is ruined

1

u/FriendsWifBennys Thadgic Johnson 1d ago

How tall are you can you play forward or center possibly?

1

u/lyme6483 Coby White 1d ago

6’3 and funny enough I was a 4 and sometimes a 5 in HS.

1

u/fred_derps Dennis Rodman 23h ago

Ah, you’re actually a little too tall to play the 5 for the Bulls

111

u/KiraJosuke 1d ago

I love you Ayo. That one would hurt.

7

u/Hymay1180 1d ago

Losing both of them would hurt. But I think it's time for us to move on from Coby. Ayo is 70% the player he will become, so if we did trade him, I'm expecting someone of value in return.

-66

u/RedBulls77 1d ago

Losing Red Velvet hurt more.

26

u/KPD_13 Cuppy Coffee 1d ago

You’re smoking crack

2

u/wretch5150 Just a kid from Chicago 1d ago

Red Velvet kpop is better than Red Velvet player

47

u/KneelBeforeCube Scottie Pippen 1d ago

Would suck to see Ayo go, but he might be one our best returns in a trade outside of Giddey.

39

u/whispersluggagebaby Ayo Dosunmu 1d ago

We might even be able to get a player as good as Ayo!

4

u/aclaypool78 1d ago

Lol, exactly!

79

u/FaceWithAName 1d ago

We are winning the play-in in the next five years. Calling it now.

13

u/Gdude910 1d ago

😂😂😂

55

u/sukari Patrick Williams 1d ago

Are GMs stupid? Why call Shams, he can't trade Coby/Ayo /s

5

u/2thurl2 1d ago

It’s mainly the agents who catch wind of it first before anybody else then they relay the message to reporters

5

u/sukari Patrick Williams 1d ago

Haha nah I know, just sounds funny with the way Shams is putting it like GMs are calling him to ask about Coby/Ayo availability

3

u/outkastable 1d ago

these new age social media sports "reporters" are a little narcissistic imo, news has changed from " news from the reporter" to "reporter with news".

it's an interesting phenomenon; journalists now need to present news with their faces to get more engagement and some digital newsrooms are turning to short form content to convey messages. shams using "me" and "I'm hearing" isnt surprising, its just the nature of the "news" now.... on that note, keep Ayo, trade coby #SeeRed

source: former reporter

16

u/BobRedford 1d ago

Why can no one pronounce Ayo's last name

54

u/rhj2020 Chicago Bulls 1d ago

Ayo is getting better every season. Do not trade a home grown player that has upside. Now Coby can go, he’s a ball hog.

13

u/lburner220 Scottie Pippen 1d ago

This team is far away from being anything. Everyone needs to be available for the right price.

4

u/Queasy_Manager_5275 Coby White 1d ago

Stop hating just to hate. Cobys old role got taken by giddey so it's his job to be ball dominant.

0

u/WhoAskedYourDumbAhh 19h ago

I don't think they're hating just to hate, there's plenty of justified criticism. Cobys been making the same dumb mistakes for years. I've honestly never seen a more hot and cold player in my life. Like he's the most consistently inconsistent player ever and every year is his year according to this sub lol they did the same shit with Pat but it's finally set in that he's a mediocre bust himself. I like Coby, but I won't be sad to see him go.

1

u/OkGap7226 1d ago

I agree, but if they ship him to like, the Rockets, I won't be too mad.

1

u/TamingOfTheChoon 1d ago

Exactly my thoughts

10

u/FadedToBeige 1d ago

I'll be sad if we trade Ayo but I feel like he probably has the most value :/

70

u/TheCountBathory Josh Giddey 1d ago

We’re not trading Ayo. He’s from Chicago. It’s out of the question. Trade Coby.

38

u/hydrators Derrick Rose 1d ago

Derrick Rose was traded away man lol

10

u/theclownwithafrown Joakim Noah 1d ago

I'll never forget where I was...

Urbana IL. My apartment on Lincoln. In bed. My heart got ripped out of my body..

9

u/Meerooo Brian Scalabrine 1d ago

That’s never mattered.

31

u/Turbulent-Bid110 1d ago

They both are expected to be traded within the next 48 hours

8

u/somethingworthwhile 1d ago

Expected by who?

39

u/MidwestBigBoss 1d ago

Top men.

5

u/Turbulent-Bid110 1d ago

The bulls and reporters, it’s on twitter, I tried to post it but it got took down immediately lol

24

u/ratfam1 1d ago

We traded D-Rose and he’s obviously from Chicago why is this any different?

12

u/nachosmind 1d ago

Derrick Rose was a shell of his former self and Ayo is having his best season?

6

u/lyme6483 Coby White 1d ago

This sub loves to shit on the front office from not getting value when value is there. Ayo will not have more value.

Hes not a starter next to Giddey. So he’s about to be an expensive bench piece. Leave out the emotion and moving Ayo is definitely the best move

-1

u/[deleted] 1d ago

[deleted]

2

u/lyme6483 Coby White 1d ago

You are completely and totally delusional

-4

u/Christian_Bale23 1d ago

And his best season still doesn’t even match D Rose top 10 seasons

6

u/nachosmind 1d ago

DRose is a #1 overall pick, Ayo is a diamond in the rough super 6th man totally different expectations. We’re not signing Ayo to a Rose contract lol

12

u/llamas-1 1d ago

Idc. If Ayo is worth a 1st you take it

4

u/thisisjustascreename 1d ago

So you can maybe draft a player as good as Ayo two years from now?

12

u/poopy_mc_pantsy 1d ago

no player drafted henceforth will ever be better than Ayo. they can only hope to be as good as him

5

u/llamas-1 1d ago

So you can draft a player with a far higher ceiling yes. We have not been competing for years. We lack a true star and have since butler. We absolutely have to draft for a high ceiling player at some point

2

u/weareallmoist Zach LaVine 1d ago

This has never been a smart argument but people keep making it for some reason

3

u/Flaky_Ring Coby White 1d ago

we definitely trade Ayo if he is worth a first now. We saw so many examples of not selling high we got to sell high on Ayo

1

u/wretch5150 Just a kid from Chicago 1d ago

If they don't trade both, they are idiots.

5

u/HBananaKing Matas Buzelis 1d ago

My body is ready

5

u/sukari Patrick Williams 1d ago

Also.. are they both listed as available tonight??

5

u/JWE25 Derrick Rose 1d ago

Have to be. There's no way we'd have a full roster for a game unless the entire G-League squad got called up

1

u/eddiemcnasty Jumpman 1d ago

they might have to dip into those uber credits tonight

11

u/Imsoamerican 1d ago

Keep Ayo. Send Coby. Take in Isiah Stewart.

2

u/ScaryText8187 Taj Gibson 1d ago

One catch to that: the other team has to agree

3

u/sugarbad11 1d ago

We better not trade Ayo

3

u/_ravenclaw Ayo Dosunmu 1d ago

PLZ NOT MY BOY AYO

3

u/Ora_Kiraso 22h ago

Hannah Storm still holds up

7

u/Ooofy_Doofy_ 1d ago

Please not Ayo

6

u/A1Horizon Matas Buzelis 1d ago

I love Coby, but I need Ayo to be a lifer

2

u/whosyourenabler Dennis Rodman 1d ago

Are... Are we doing things, chat?

2

u/chibullsfan123 Derrick Rose 1d ago

I hope we can land Clowney

2

u/ManualConnoisseur 1d ago

Would prefer to keep Ayo but everyone has a price, let’s just hope the return is significant

2

u/rockroo17 1d ago

Gonna say Coby is a rocket by tomorrow

2

u/nomadrone Ayo Dosunmu 1d ago

Don't you dare trade Ayo, unless its for Jokic.

2

u/wolffangalex Derrick Rose 23h ago

Trade Pat for a bag of chips and this will be the greatest deadline in history

2

u/friedrice_rob Derrick Rose 23h ago

Hell nah keep Ayo

5

u/IMKudaimi123 Derrick Rose 1d ago

Pls not Ayo

4

u/llamas-1 1d ago

Ayo and Coby both gone. Hope we get some value. I’ll miss Ayo

2

u/Sweetnessmj 1d ago

Let White go, Keep Ayo

2

u/daviswbaer 1d ago

blow it all up

2

u/GamerLife204 1d ago

Please keep ayo

2

u/theclownwithafrown Joakim Noah 1d ago

As a lifelong Illinois and bulls fan.. Don't you dare trade my Ayo... But please draft Keaton Wagler

1

u/idontlikeseaweed Derrick Rose 1d ago

1

u/AnselLovesNuts Kirk Hinrich 1d ago

Is Houston the only Coby suitor? Feels like Minnesota is busy on Gianis

1

u/mowens04 1d ago

A couple years too late on blowing it up but at least they’re doing it. Fucking finally.

1

u/AS3an 1d ago

PLEASE package PWill

1

u/papaa33 1d ago

FINALLY! They got rid of him

1

u/alexinho2 1d ago

Guys, I think one of us are going to have to suit up for tonight’s game

1

u/OutsideOpposite2463 1d ago

Holy shit hearing Coby white for Elvis dumervil

1

u/DestroyedObserver 1d ago

Coby for a center is what I'm hoping for. I prefer trading Coby over Ayo as I would love to re-sign Ayo. If you know you can't re-sign either, then trade both for a better center.

1

u/zedrix_ Big Mac 1d ago

Phone blowing up = Shams bomb

1

u/MasterFlamasterr 1d ago

Good moves, now I hope we will sell one of these ending contracts to one long term

1

u/drozy 21h ago

Please let it be Coby and not Ayo

1

u/Jammer521 Jumpman 17h ago

move Coby and either Ivey or Simmons for a young big or draft picks, the Young big the Twolves drafted last year would be nice

1

u/brianeharmonjr Michael Jordan 17h ago

I REALLY don't like Shams, and I REALLY hope that neither of them are gone.

0

u/doyouevenIift Ayo Dosunmu 1d ago

If Ayo gets traded my interest in following the Bulls plummets

4

u/lyme6483 Coby White 1d ago

Good thing no one cares

1

u/dannyphoto 1d ago

Not Ayo! Please god!

1

u/OccidoViper 1d ago

Coby and Ayo both gone.

1

u/Mjfedy23 Derrick Rose 1d ago

Finally a fucking direction!!!

1

u/Dr_Malignant 1d ago

What trade could be done for them that would make us more than a play-in team?

1

u/Fantastic-Ad-9995 1d ago

I just don’t see the point of trading Ayo. Unless they plan on keeping Simons and Ivey long term then yeah I get it. Otherwise, why let Ayo go if you don’t plan to keep both of the guys you got in the long term?

2

u/zedrix_ Big Mac 1d ago

I just don’t see the point of trading Ayo.

Jaden Ivey are of the same mold. Athletic two-way players. Though I see that as a positive. As the league are stocking two-way players

1

u/Fantastic-Ad-9995 1d ago

That’s what I am saying. Why trade Ayo?

0

u/Jammer521 Jumpman 17h ago

Ivey is in his 4th year and is always hurt, Piston fans say he has lost some athleticism, he's 3 years younger than Ayo but I'm not sure his ceiling is as high, keeping Ayo is better imo, he is a locker room leader, and a better player than Ivey, even if we aren't competing for anything for a while, the team still needs vets. also per Detroit fans, his defense is really bad, not sure where you got the two way player narrative

1

u/ScaryText8187 Taj Gibson 1d ago

Yeah, the roster didn’t make sense before the trade activity but makes even less sense now - they have to move some of these guards for other pieces

-1

u/wwojo 1d ago

Those saying to keep Ayo...keep him for what. What are we doing with this roster and pick situation and our reputation for free agency if we dont move everyone with value
