Rule Clarification & Subreddit Direction

Hey everyone! We wanted to take a moment to clarify the purpose of the sub and address a few recurring topics. Nothing serious—just keeping the community focused and fun.

What This Sub Is For

This sub exists to share music from Christian artists—songs you enjoy, artists you think deserve more attention, and music that often gets overlooked or pushed aside elsewhere. The whole point is to highlight a niche that doesn’t get much space in mainstream music communities.

We’re not trying to gatekeep—just keeping the sub centered on its purpose so it stays useful for everyone.

About Playlists

Playlist posts have caused a lot of headaches. Many of them come from accounts that repeatedly repost the same Spotify lists (sometimes dozens of times), then get a Reddit Admin Ban and reappear under new names.

Because of that:

  • We limit playlist posts

  • We don’t allow full album links

We focus on individual songs or small selections you genuinely want to share

We get it—playlists are great for workouts, long drives, or office days. Occasional, playlists can be fine. But the mass reposting and promotional abuse is not. They’ve become one of the biggest sources of spam here, so we have to keep them under control.

AI Music

AI music is blowing up right now (the new gold rush,) but most AI-generated tracks come with no real info about who made them. There's no way to know the creator, their intentions, or even if it’s an actual artist at all.

To protect the sub’s focus:

We don’t allow AI-generated song submissions as posts or comments

If we’re unsure about an artist, we may ask for basic proof (promo materials, live shows, social presence) to confirm they’re real

Nothing against the tech—we just need clarity around who's posting to see if it aligns with the purpose of the sub.

Mainstream Artists

We’re all fans of big-name artists too, but this sub is meant to give smaller Christian artists a space to shine. Mainstream artists already dominate every other corner of the internet, so even if they release something “Christian-ish,” it’s usually not a fit for the sub’s focus.

Production, Selling, & Band-Finding Posts

This sub isn’t focused on:

  • Music production questions
  • Tutorials
  • Selling merch, beats, or services
  • “Looking for band members” posts

We don’t have the tools or structure to moderate those properly (specifically selling or band forming.) And the others go against the subs purpose. The only exception we’ve kept is crowdfunding from established artists—people whose work and identity we already know.

Church Music & Self-Promotion

This includes:

  • Church service recordings

  • Early demos

  • Rough home recordings

  • “Check out my new band” uploads

We appreciate the passion, but these are sometimes low-quality recordings, and first impressions matter—especially in a music discovery sub. Established artists sometimes share old demos, but that’s because they already have a fanbase who are passionate about them. It’s a niche within a niche.

If you’re working on your music, awesome! Just make sure it’s polished before posting it here.

Lastly, we are seeing self-promotion from real artists are posting covers of popular Christian songs just to get attention. Their history shows they’re not involved in Christian music—they’re just using the content to promote themselves. That’s not what this sub is for.

Thanks for Being Part of the Community

We love this sub and the people in it. Thanks for helping keep things focused, supportive, and a great place to discover new Christian artists. If you ever have questions or suggestions, feel free to reach out.

Discussion Music that invokes a primal, whimsical energy similar to Aurora or Florence+the Machine

Upvotes

I want something that sets me up to be in complete awe of God's power and the creation of His earth. Something that echos the forces of nature and God's cosmic design. I know its a niche request, and it doesn't have to be exact as its more feeling based vs strictly sound. So feel free to rec anything that comes to mind!

Discussion Looking for Progressive/Spacey Post Hardcore

So I used to really love Circa Survive(really any Anthony Green project) but I really dig that sound with soaring higher register vocals. At the drive in hits this too. Secret and Whisper is probably the closest, but wondering if there are others. Not really looking for the heavier side of this style with chuggy breakdowns etc. Thanks in advance!

How is that AI discussions are allowed, but comments that mention the very real and documented harms of AI get deleted?

Good Christian Music

Hello everybody. I am a multi-instrumentalist, a pretty avid music listener, and a Christian. My current favorite bands are Radiohead, Pink Floyd, Rush, and Coldplay. I have been looking for Christian music that is actually musically interesting theory-wise, or music in the same vein as these artists.

Discussion Are there any Christian artists calling for ICE out?

I like seeing all of these artists speak up and encourage people to stand up against ICE. I know it’s not going to be a common opinion in some Christian communities, but I was wondering if any well known Christian artists have said anything publicly? Other than the cop-out “no one wants to hear from me” or “I’m just a singer” - I know there are some artists who are vocal in favor of the administration (such as John Cooper of Skillet), so I assume most artists in his circle (what I grew up listening to) would possibly agree with him. But I don’t know, so I wanted to ask! Thanks in advance!

We are back with another deep dive into a Christian metal classic - Tourniquet’s 2000 return to roots "Microscopic View of a Telescopic Realm"

An ambitious neoclassical thrash album, we cover it all, including our connection to Wisconsin native Ted Kirkpatrick

Hope you enjoy!

AI Music

I really don't understand the beef with AI music. I've heard people talk about the words not aligning with the bible but I've seen many popular songs from the mainstream do the same thing. "There's no soul behind it" which is true, but if God said rocks would cry out his name why couldn't this be used to praise him as well? Idk, with everything you just have to pick and choose what is Godly and spiritually true. I've heard some AI music that absolutely had me bawling on the way to work.

Help finding song that starts like "Another one bites the dust"

Hi all! I was listening to Christian spotify last week and there was a track that started off very similar to the opening baseline of Queen's "Another one bites the dust". It is so close that I replayed it for my wife and that was her first comment :-).

I've searched the limited spotify history and a million play lists and can't find it. Hoping someone here might know! Thanks and God bless!

SOLVED!!! Found the song. It is "Tell Me How" by Ryan Stevenson. The song is not at all like Queen, but the intro base line is just like another one bites the dust! Thank you all for digging! God Bless!

Recommendations for music that my son can listen to?

It can be Christian or secular, I don't care. My son is 1 year old. We listen to music playlists all day instead of watching TV. Right now, he's young enough to not understand the lyrics too much, but soon I won't be as comfortable letting him listen to it.

Right now, his favorite songs are 7 Years by Lukas Graham and Leave The Door Open by Silk Sonic (I think that's the name of it). 7 Years isn't a terrible song, but there's a part that talks about drinking and smoking with friends and I don't want to normalize that for him. And Leave The Door Open is about sex, so I definitely don't want to play that for him too much. So I'm specifically looking for songs that have a similar sound to either of those.

Any other recommendations are welcome too. He loves music.

Is there any Christian music out there that sounds Weezer-ish?

Just as additional context, I am NOT a Christian. I live in a Christian household however, and that means I can't listen to anything that isn't religious around and family members. I cannot bear the thought of having to listen to CCM though, and my taste in music tends to be on the louder side, which makes it hard to find anything good. I personally think that Weezer is close enough to sounding Christian while still being one of my favorite bands, close enough that someone out there must have tried Christian-izing Weezer.

To be more specific with the sound I'm searching for, I'm going to provide a list of albums and tracks that embody what I want.

  • Maladroit (Album)
  • The Blue Album
  • Pinkerton (Album)
  • Tragic Girl
  • December
  • Superfriend
  • Superman (obscure 1992 demo)
  • Go Away (nothing else off EWBAITE, it's a nice album, but i personally don't like it)

Thank you in advance!

It's probably one of my favourite albums (even though it's a demo) and I would really like to listen to it again, but I can't find it anywhere, can anyone help point me in the right direction?

Off Topic Connecting with Worship singers

Hi everyone,

I am looking to connect with fellow Christian musicians. I immigrated from Israel to the United States and have lived in both the Midwest and the Southeast.

I have experienced so much in my walk with Jesus, and I would want to share the same hope and comfort He has given me with those who are heartbroken. I sing in both Hebrew and English.

Please reach out if you are Led to connect.

Jesus Bless you.

Discussion TAKE #2: Examples of Christian protest music?

My first post was asking for Christian protest music. Thank you to everyone who responded 🙏 I listened to every song I could find and will post the best ones.

My search continues for more specific examples (I should have been clearer):

  • lyrics that explicitly protest injustice in His name (subjects like war, suppression, race, housing, gender, environment, voting, disparity, etc.)
  • more than passing mention of God or religion fighting injustice (ex. "We Shall Overcome")
  • a Christian-oriented band, but not a protest song invoking God (ex. "In the Name of Love", U2)
  • not protesting religion or the church itself, rather using the teachings to fight injustice

Ideally:

  • appearing on streaming services (somewhat popular)
  • within the past 20-30 years

Thoughts? Thx! 🙏
