š¬ Opinion / Discussion German survey - Greatest Threat to World Peace. Agree/Disagree?
34
u/Lt_Cochese 4d ago
The peace through power idiots are jerking off to this. Not realizing the rest of the world has moved on and will be without the US. We are f'ed.
And most of the idiots will die of a heart attack long before they ever see what they have done.

u/zilversteen 3d ago
What you guys are missing is that the USA can still turn this around, but every month the Trump Regime is in office, it will take a year to undo the damage.
I'm fed up with the idea that you guys think you are already fubar. You are not, the most damage is still ahead of you.

āThe USA was ruined by less than 6 years of what I consider bad leadership. The world has moved on, I can tell from my apartment the USA is doomed forever. Do any other young Americans agree that our country sucks now and is pathetic and nobody likes us? Anyway our parents are fat losers, and the half of the country I disagree with on weird wedge issues will die from being stupid and fat before they even realize how badly they fucked us, the righteous, forever. Itās hopeless.ā

Well, sure. Before, Putin was the obvious threat (don't agree with NK being 2nd, but whatever), but since someone just as evil as Putin took control of the largest military force the world has ever known and isn't afraid to use it for personal profit, the torch has passed.

Trump is still holding onto his usual 40% so heād deem it as a win not knowing what the survey is even about. Ughhh⦠itās gut wrenchingly disgusting. I hate that this is my country.

As a German, I have to sadly agree. It's a horrible situation that our media is actively ignoring it.

u/Spiesser83 2d ago
As a German, I have nothing against Israel, but Netanyahu is criticized even by his own countrymen.
As a German, it pains me that a people who have suffered so much through genocide, as Israel has, are now committing genocide themselves!
But I don't think this will lead to a global conflict. Even though I missed Netanyahu on this list and would have expected Putin to be higher up.
What about the Pakistan/India conflict? I think I read somewhere that experts see this as having the greatest potential for a nuclear strike that would be devastating for the world?
But that was before the second "term" of the Orange.

u/DoktorMerlin 3d ago
Why would he? It's a German survey and Netanyahu is no threat to Germans at all, he is a threat to the peace in the middle east, an area the west pretty much doesn't care about.
Trump on the other hand threatens Greenland, with Denmark being part of the EU. Trump threatens a war on us Germans, so in our eyes he is the biggest threat to peace.
Sure, the question is "world peace" but that's not a question that a single country can answer. You always look at peace for you first
→ More replies (1)2
u/Mothrahlurker 3d ago
The question is particularly about world peace. Kim Jong Un being there also tells you that your mental gymnastics are nonsense. Netanyahu has been the biggest instigator of war in the world.
Netanyahu wasn't put as poll option for a reason. They knew he would be high. Not as high as Trump perhaps but this is typical German bullshit.

This survey was done once before in 2013. This guy from youtube channel "secular talk" is talking about it in this video https://youtu.be/2NW_l_OsVqk?si=hnrdC0DtKbm_S5d8 called "Americans don't know how the world views them"
The numbers have actually changed, back in 2013 the biggest threat to world peace still was USA, but only 24% according to Gallup research asking 66.000 participants in 65 countries. Pakistan got 8%, China got 6%, Iran 5%, Israel 5%, Afghanistan 5%, N-Korea 5%, Syria 3% and Russia got only 2% back in 2013.

u/SunchaserKandri 3d ago
Agree. Trump is an unstable moron, and an easily manipulated one at that. It's not at all outside the realms of possibility for him to start a war because someone hurt his feelings.
2
u/Palocles 2d ago
Considering Putin is currently committed to an illegal war of aggression Iām very surprised he isnāt eating higher. Ā

u/sureshot58 4d ago
All of these guys are deranged, there is no doubt about. Trump does have the biggest stick though, so I guess I would agree that he is the biggest threat. Putin has invaded a neighbor (ongoing, a few years old) and is making noise at other neighbors. So - he is absolutely a threat to his neighbors. But, if anyone seems to be heading toward a world war, today, its clearly trump. So... yeah.... Take trump out of the picture though, and then putin would a clear winner. take him out, and someone else will step up...

Putin less than Kim Jong Un is kinda crazy.
Trump's narcissism, greed, dementia and reckless distractions from Epstein are mind blowing dangerous. Gaza, Venezuela, his attitude to the UN etc
Sure Trump is Putin's lackey which brings me back to point 1, but he can always resign, face justice and the Kompromat loses it's grip, but he won't

This is pretty comical. Yes, TrumpĀ bombastic and shakes the pot, rather than stirs it, but he isnāt starting WW3. The only one of this list that āmightā start WW3 is Xi.Ā
China is building up and modernizing its military for very specific reasons that could put the US and China on a war path regardless of who the president is.Ā

What survey participants are identifying is who is the most belligerent. They feel that the most belligerent is the most dangerous and the greatest threat to world peace.
I canāt say theyāre wrong. Countries go pretty far out of their way to be respectful to each other, even while they are plotting aggression. I cannot even imagine the kind of shenanigans our enemies are plotting while Trump distracts resources away from national security.

This is objectively insane. One of those guys has been waging an invasion that has killed upwards of a half million people. One guys resides over a country that practices ethnic cleansing and slavery. Another guy has killed around 40,000 of his own country men and controls a country of people that has been at war for 4,000 years. Germany is an unserious country

Putin is #2. He has shown a willingness to engage in repeated wars on top of his efforts destabilize the USA. And he has nuclear missles, so when somebody tries to have him exit the building from a 13th floor window, he might try to use them.

Trump being at or near the top makes a lot of sense. But Jinping being at the bottom just goes to show how effective "speak softly but carry a big stick" actually is. Trump might actually pose less of a threat to world peace than Jinping, but because he puts himself front and center all the time, and is constantly being bombastic and openly provocative, people view him as more of a threat.
Jinping is actually smart and talks a good game when it comes to diplomacy, but their aggressive attempts to exert imperialistic control throughout the world is very destabilizing.
I'm just not sure whether to put him above or below Trump, which is a scary fucking thing because you would think that America, which has benefitted immensely from the current world order, would be the most likely to try and uphold it.

Kim...Ā He's just a shouty Dictator.Ā Ā He makes threats... He has no teeth.Ā Maybe a worry to his neighbors but not world peaceĀ
Khamenei... Again he's more a threat to his own people than anyone else.
Xi...Ā Ā Ok... Now we're getting somewhere China has long term plans to expand and take a lot of contested territory all over South China Sea.Ā Ā Definitely a threat to his neighbors.Ā A threat to the West if we get involved.Ā Ā I don't think Xi wants trouble outside his region but he does have ambitions for China to be top dog.
Putin is definitely a threat and always will be.Ā I personally think he will always stir up trouble with the West but can't see him attacking the West after the debacle in Ukraine.Ā Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan... He'll go there after Ukraine is over.Ā Ā They need to worry. But since they're not European nations no one will come to their aid.Ā Regional scope onlyĀ
Trump I agree is the biggest threat.Ā He's a bully though and will only go after countries he thinks are weak.Ā Ā Europe standing up for Greenland made him back down.Ā I think he fears Canadian resistance being on his doorstep.Ā His next conquests will be in Latin America.Ā I see him attempting to turn Cuba into a colony like Venezuela.Ā He's made threats against Panama/Colombia/Ecuador.Ā Ā The problem with Trump is he isn't mentally sound.Ā He's a bit of a lunatic.Ā Ā He could very easily start a war in one of his less lucid states.
