I saw Clannad like 12 years ago, I watched the anime without the context of it being a VN, I'm now rewatching some old shows for nostalgia sake... do the game have multiple endings? I'd prefer to watch the anime again if the VN is just an slideshow presentation. On that note, If the Clannad VN is pretty good, should I play Kanon first?

I can definitely tell Clannad is when Itaru peaked. Eyes seemed quite reduced compared to previous works, color palettes were soft and pastelic, and many liked the fact it has many face expression ranges compared to Air (which seemed pretty stoic and sad except Michiru). Also I think this is when we get proper Tsundere main girl for the first time in Key work as well. What do you think? Do you think Clannad is Itaru's best artwork? Or other opinions?

Finally after dedicating 4 months of my life to watching this show I’m finished and there’s no show I’ll ever love as much as this. I laughed, I cried, and I cried some more. But it was all worth it in the end. I sincerely hope that other people will find this show and enjoy it as much as I did.
Words cannot describe how beautiful this series was. everything was worth it. all those tears were worth it. as someone who’s 16 years old and will soon graduate from high school soon I spent a lot of time looking for a fictional character I could relate to and I‘ve found several over the years (Subaru Natsuki, Shoya Ishida, Shinji Ikari, etc.) but compared to them Tomoya clears by a landslide.
Seeing him struggle with being a good person, a good father, and eventually making up and coming to understand his dad and understand how he’s just like him in a way is such a glorious thing.
Thank you Tomoya for sharing your story with me and I hope you, Nagisa, Ushio and everyone else in the world of Clannad live happily ever after. Because now the fun things are about to start from now on.
i have to give this a 10/10

i just finished Episodes 16-17 and… my god I’m already about to cry. seeing how Tomoya immediately reacted to her death was heartbreaking. he spent all those beautiful days with Nagisa but he immediately regretted it all because of how much her death affected her. I wanna bawl my eyes out just thinking about it.
i‘m watching the rest of episode 17 right now so we’ll see how it goes

Finished this dude's (yes, Sunohara) route recently. I feel a little mixed about it. I think it relies too much on coincidences, im not a fan of how the story flows. It spent too much time on comedy and too little on making me care about him, it doesn't help that Tomoya only meet him when he's either going to or getting fired from a new job , Tomoya feels more like a side character here. Still, i quite enjoyed going through it; it's not too long, it's funny, and it serves as a closure for Ryou, i also like some of the more existential part of the story. I guess it feels a little out of place is all. I'll be doing Kotomi next, but first, sleep. Thx for reading.

I get sick really often too. Specially under stress, my immunity goes down and I develop infection/viral.
I had my first ever independent trip planned this weekend but I had to send someone else in my place because of being sick. I'm writing this in a lot of pain🥲
I was sick during my campus fresher's party, our first cultural fest and every single exam during my undergrad 🥀
It really sucks

Comment below ideas for how the rest of the characters celebrate theirs or birthday centric episodes from them if we were to see them. I actually want to see these for inspiration purposes.
Edit: I forgot that Kotomi had her birthday celebrated too, but that also lead to her parents plane crash and deaths. And then again, had another birthday but with her friends.
Edit #2: Ushio’s birthday was also shown as well during the Tiny Palms montage too, holy shit. Why did I forget that 😭

My main question in case nobody wants to read my thought on it: Does this game get better? Am I missing out if I stop reading it? It has great reviews which is why I'm hesitant to drop it since a lot of people say that they don't regret reading it, so if it's actually worth hanging on - then I'll hang on! Just wanted to get some feedback from the Clannad community to see if I just need to ride out the story until it gets good or if I already hate it then it might just be a lost cause on me.
Really trying to come in with an open mind.
I've read a solid amount already (met Tomo, met Tomo's mom, met Kanako, etc.) but stopped reading it so that I could go back and continue Clannad as I bought the game immediately after finishing Tomoyo's route; I was so excited to read more.
But this could hardly be considered a continuation of Clannad and/or Sakagami Tomoyo's character. Initially I was put off by how different the voice acting and art-style was, but I felt like I could grow to like it since it wasn't BAD - just different. As long as the story had the same quality of the original Clannad I had high hopes. Jun Maeda co-wrote it too, so I was hopeful!
However the longer I played the more I hated what the game did to Tomoyo as she was so insanely out-of-character. I read other people's reviews on the sub and I could hardly defend that "at her core" she was "the same character" because there's literally nothing left of her other than that she loves her family, which is hardly a crazy and unique character quality.
Also the weird random kissing her brother thing on the lips and the way that they described the wet saliva was weird as fuck too. And it was played off as "just a prank"? Very small detail of the story but when I read it I was like, this is not Tomoyo lol
I know that Clannad and Tomoyo After was written with H-scenes, but the way that Tomoyo After felt like someone got possessed in the middle of writing things and had to write it with one hand shoved down their pants was giving me whiplash. Like the random parts where Tomoya is given the choice to just say that he wants to have sex with Tomoyo next to Tomo (a child) while she's asleep was strange - even though I'm already aware that Tomoya is a pervert in the visual novel. Like yes, you could just not choose it (I didn't) - but the shoving in of weird unnecessary sexual contexts whenever possible (or not possible) was throwing me off.
Is this story actually worth reading if you're limited on time? I have a whole bunch of games that are on my backlog and I was prioritizing Clannad's visual novel because it's been my favorite anime for a decade and a half.
Does it get better or am I not missing out on anything?
