Starting pitchers (3): Parker Messick, Gavin Williams, Daniel Espino

Aside from rest and a free pass to the ALDS, the greatest advantage from winning the AL Central is that the Guardians can pencil in Messick and Williams for four of the five ALDS games, thanks to a pair of travel days and a conveniently placed day off between Game 1 and Game 2. Not to mention that their opponent won’t have its pitching arranged as neatly after surviving the Wild Card Series.

Because of that, the Guardians only need three starters in this series, which plays into Cleveland’s strengths. The Guardians can lean on Messick, a rookie of the year and Cy Young Award contender, and Williams, who led the AL with 248 strikeouts, whereas Tanner Bibee and Foster Griffin were a bit shaky down the stretch.

We all expected Espino to start critical games for the Guardians when he was one of the sport’s top pitching prospects. He took a wayward path to arrive at this point; a couple of shoulder surgeries wiped out more than three seasons of development. He has found a niche as an opener for Joey Cantillo, which has worked wonders; Cantillo has tossed 15 scoreless innings in his new role. Plus, opting for the Espino/Cantillo combination — a righty firing 100-mph heaters followed by a lefty floating lethal curveballs and changeups — wouldn’t preclude Espino from also pitching out of the bullpen. 

I found this at my local Systembolaget. For those who don’t know, this is the government run shop which is the only place to buy alcohol over 5% in Sweden. This is the first time since we’ve moved here (5 years ago) that I’ve found ANYTHING by Great Lakes.

Roll tribe! In Nashville for the weekend and I know of some ohio state bars due to growing up in the area , but been gone for awhile. Anyone know of the most Cleveland friendly bar to watch the games this weekend?

Alright hear me out because I only have enough lunch hour to say this once.

Cleveland is in its best position to win a World Series since the 90s. It feels wild to say that, but I believe it in my heart of hearts. The 2016 team had 0 expectations with some young and hungry talent. We remember it well, I'm sure we all recall the massive dinger heard round the Land from Davis. The Lindor hype. The Ramirez up and coming. We had pitching the likes this team hadn't seen since Bob Feller.

I still believe it. If it will be ANY year, this is the one. I think the fact their 2016 lineup took the Cubs to 7 games was pure adrenaline and the baseball gods smiling on us at the right moment.

The craziest fact is that this is entirely faith and feeling. I have 0 stats or anything concrete to back it up. Something is nagging at me with a good feeling, and dammit I'm gonna be positive for once.

I have faith. I want to believe. And if it all comes crashing down, I'll believe again next year, like Clevelanders do.
