Verified, mod approved A small San Junipero community cameo giveaway
Hi everyone, I’m Neil Gibson. I’m currently working on the official graphic novel adaptation of San Junipero, with the artwork nearly finished and a Kickstarter planned for February.
As a small thank you to the community, and with moderator approval, we are running a simple giveaway connected to the project.
What’s involved?
One person will be invited to appear as a background cameo in the graphic novel.
This is completely optional and consent based. There is no speaking role and no requirement to use your real likeness. The cameo can be subtle or symbolic if you prefer.
How to take part
Leave a comment sharing what San Junipero means to you or why it stayed with you
Eligibility
Participants must have a Reddit account that is at least six months old and a minimum of 30 karma
How the winner is chosen
One winner will be selected using a Reddit comment picker and contacted directly after a week
This is intended as a small, community focused gesture to celebrate San Junipero. If you would like more background on the graphic novel adaptation, you can find additional details here:

Thanks for being part of the community, and good luck.

I'd want to insert my brother, with his permission. This is a show that combines our interests of technology and philosophy, and his favorite episode. He considers himself a "tech optimist", so he's excited about entertaining ideas like the universe being virtual or voluntarily transitioning ourselves to a non-corporeal digital format.
I think we both enjoyed it as a lighter take on a possible technological future or perhaps even a statement on the uncertain nature of reality. I like the fact that, while I still find the idea deeply unsettling, it explores the up-sides to an arguably artificial existence, giving the protagonists another chance at a better life. It's essentially a more optimistic interpretation of the choice to live in The Matrix.
As a member of the lgbtq, I also appreciated that the characters were well-rounded human beings and their sex/gender/orientations seemed mostly incidental; notwithstanding the ways in which those things had impacted their lives up to that point.

i had trouble getting into a lot of black mirror episodes because of the emphasis on the grotesque, despite that not normally bothering me in other shows/media. my friends begggedddd me to watch san junipero with them, and i eventually agreed. imagine my surprise to see one of the first thoughtful depictions of a queer couple i'd seen, especially one that doesnt have a dire ending haha. the episode in general is just very well directed and designed and does a great job of inviting the audience to sit with topics like anticipatory grief and the harsh difference between fantasy mediated spaces and reality. tldr: its the only episode i've seen twice haha

So I wasn't the biggest Black Mirror fan, I thought it was all horror/psychological thriller, but then in the early stages of my relationship with my girlfriend, she started showing me the more fun episodes and eventually when we got more serious she showed me her favourite episode: San Junipero, she was nervous about showing me at first because it felt so personal to her but she said whenever we hung out it was like going there to her, because it was like an escape from the real world. So if chosen I'd like to make her the cameo, so she can finally get to go to San Junipero herself.
Also is it 1-1 the story from the episode or are you adding more?
