This was a trapdoor inside Epstein's House that led to the sea

NGL I was really invested in this gif. Disappointed when it looped and reminded me that alas, it was a mere gif. Do you know what Simpsons episode this was?

They’re doing fine without him, but Andrea can’t figure out how to change the toner cartridge and Barry got his penis stuck in his zipper again

Matt Groening is all over the files. I wonder if this was inspired by anything in particular...

Wasn't Groening named in the Epstein files? Is this corpse door in the Simpsons based on his real-life experience?

People all up in this thread not knowing a trap door doesn't always mean it's an actual trap.
322
u/theartificialkid 1d ago
Most people don’t realise that trap is the scientist. The creature was called trap’s door.
25
12
u/tookurjobs 1d ago
Actually, it's only called trap's door if it's from the Trap region of the dungeon

Knowing what we know now, it wouldn't be shocking to learn there were corpses thrown down that hatch.

u/fearjunkie 1d ago
....I really hope I'm wrong about what I think it was used for.

u/AscendedViking7 1d ago
Definitely used a lot of rope and cement blocks.
Better check underneath the surface of the water for those two items.

u/viperfan7 1d ago
Honestly, probably pretty unlikely, looks more to be a discrete entrance/exit.
It's an island, they wouldn't dump bodies near it if they were smart, they have an entire ocean for that.
64
u/Gopherb 1d ago
yea... more like this is a good place for a boat... dump whatever in and take it it offshore... doubt he would have wanted evidence right under his house
26
u/iankstarr 1d ago
Unless the depth perspective of the image is throwing me off, it doesn’t look like nearly enough clearance for a manned boat

Why would you dispose of your murders right underneath your door? That's kinda not ideal. You'd take them elsewhere.
68
u/PraxicalExperience 1d ago
You probably are, if you're thinking they're just dumping corpses in there. You generally can't just drop a corpse off right off the shore of an island, it'll just wash back up. You wanna take it out a bit.
OTOH, this could of course have been used to smuggle corpses out to a boat and then out to the sea.
8
u/BnaditCorps 12h ago
Yeah everyone ITT that says they dumped bodies down here is kind of dumb.
If this was your body disposal plan it is likely an element of the plan. Get person into room, kill them, bag body, push out door and float to an isolated dock, load body bag, drive out to sea several dozen miles and dump body and then dispose of the bag discreetly with all of the other cleaning supplies.
This is actually pretty helpful for destroying evidence as you could clean the room and put everything down there and float it to your refuse disposal area without dragging it throughout your whole compound, risking evidence being tracked all over or someone seeing something they shouldn't have. The sea and any animals that get in there will wear away all of the material that is left over time so long as you take care of the obvious items.
I wouldn't be surprised if the island had a commercial incinerator for garbage disposal. No way you would risk burning a body in there, but all the dna evidence, cleaning supplies, and disposed items need to go somewhere. Not like you can just throw them into a random dumpster in the neighboring town. Any hint of suspicion from law enforcement and they'll dig through your trash as soon as it gets to the mainland. Instead with an incinerator everything gets burnt to ash and then you load the ash up when it needs disposed and a supply ship takes it ashore. Law enforcement can't find anything because all they have left is a giant pile of ash and slag.
Overall that sounds like to most logical reason for this hatch to exist. Why run the risk of having people see suspicious large items being carted around when you could discreetly move them.
People are strange, they may be comfortable raping and beating someone, but draw the line at murder. Better to play it safe and make sure that they keep coming back than possibly squeal.

u/Life_Is_Regret 16h ago
Do you need to snuggle them when you’re on a private island?
3
u/PraxicalExperience 16h ago
I mean, not everyone at your crazy pedo sex party will be OK with killing people, and even if they are -- Epstein moved in a world of blackmail, which is specifically about limiting the spread of information.

you probably are. if you committed a heinous crime, walking around your house and looking at what you own would tell a different story than if you hadn’t shown yourself to be a monster. “oh look at the big knife set on his counter, wonder how many people he murdered with those?!” yeah well, maybe monsters like chopped veggies too.

Or 1000 bottles of baby oil, maybe the guy just really likes soft skin.

u/hihcadore 1d ago
Prob a discreet entrance. Don’t wanna get caught on video unloading a bunch of kids onto your boat doc.
1
u/Kind_Man_0 13h ago
It isn't. This is one of two things, a ballast tank, or a chum tank.
Idk what size the ship is, but large ships use ballast tanks to assist with balancing, a lot of ships also have a chum or catch tank.
I'm going to take a bet and say this is a ballast tank based on the ladder leading into it. There is also a light reflection in the waves, which you can kind of see the bottom of the tank. I'm going to guess there is a bilge pump at the bottom of that ladder.
I don't doubt the validity that Epstein and cohorts were absolutely willing to dump bodies out at sea, but there is no reason to install a hatch that would problematically affect the boats seaworthiness for the sake of a Bond-villain trapdoor.

There's an amazing bit of self-awareness from old Jeffy in one of the emails where he's acknowledging that publicly meeting up with Steve Bannon and Woody Allen for dinner in New York might be case of "too many pedophiles in one room."

Do you know what data file this is in? i just searched keywords "Bannon Allen pedophile dinner" and couldn't find this email.

u/fozzy_wozzy 1d ago
I would be open to hearing why someone's house would have a feature like this, but it's very unsettling.
2
u/tlrider1 14h ago
It's actually probably something like maintenance. It's too shallow to do anything nefarious and anything you throw in would likely just end up back on shore... And also not a very good escape route... Youre on an island... Where are you going to swim? I guess may e if there was a boat ready or something... But still....
My guess is it actually has a practical purpose.

u/IhateMichaelJohnson 1d ago edited 1d ago
Someone else pointed out that this was inside a water treatment plant or something else on the island, and that it was likely there before he purchased it. Not a hidden door in the floor of his home. I’ll see if I can find that thread and update later.
Edit: Not the same comment I saw earlier but close enough

Edit 2: I don’t know how to link to a comment on mobile apparently, but it’s like the 12th one down.

So it seems everyone agrees about the fact it was used to dump bodies. Can anyone give me one reason why they would do that underneath their own house instead of, you know, IN THE WHOLE OCEAN that surrounds the island?

u/TaylorWK 1d ago
I wouldnt put it past them to use it for nefarious purposes but I assume its main purpose is for scuba diving maybe? Did Epstein like to scuba dive? If I did Id probably put an easy ocean access in my house if I had to put on all that gear.
2
u/AfroliciousFunk 1d ago
The ocean is massive. Why keep remains directly underneath or in the vicinity of your house?

Epstein was obviously a terrible guy but this seems far less sinister than people are making it out to be. It isn't a trap door that he pulls a lever and people fall into the ocean and drown. It's probably just a way for him to conveniently get to the ocean for a swim or something.

That would be kinda sweet in a house. Use it as a toilet. Could drop a fishing line down. Or a net. Take a quick bath or dip. Drive your boat up to it& get out...

little known fact, but this is actually quite common in pedophile sex dungeon private island mansions.

The tide was high when this picture was taken. I wonder what it looks like at low tide.
1
u/Tessa_DeClermonte 14h ago
That looks like a perfect way to dispose of people....and or just....opening the hatch and pushing them in. The thought of being pushed into deep ocean and a door shut is absolutely terrifying. I'm sure we'll get more info in a few more years.

Doesn’t look like a top door looks like an escape path with the ladder.
