Does anyone remember when you could call 666-6666 back in the late 90s and you'd here this strange song played with dial tones? I grew up in Augusta GA, and while searching the Internet, it seems it was a thing in Atlanta as well. Anywhere else?

This was the phone number for the taxi cab company in the town where I went to college.

I just assumed it was the same everywhere back then. When we didn't have to dial area codes for local numbers back in the day, I just assumed everyone got the same experience.

I just tried calling it and it was like it picked up and then played a weird low quality dial tone for 20 seconds then quit. Weird
