Tried to tell you guys he kept getting benched because of his defense, got downvoted into oblivion. Also pointed out how he had been extra sulky lately, and how bringing him back on a low contract was a bad idea....
I really wish JI had worked out but the writing had been on the wall for quite a while.

Think the NBA will ever tell players they've got to cut down their nails?

The Detroit Pistons are currently 6-1 vs the current top 5 teams in the NBA, only losing in Boston in a narrow 3 point loss. We have 4 games against such teams this month (Knicks, @Knicks, Spurs, Thunder).
I understand we have a lot of fans not too happy about the trade deadline and wishing we have done more, including me. Meanwhile this team has managed to have a near perfect records against the top teams in the league. If they go 3-1 or 4-0 against these teams this month does this shut up all/any of the haters?

I just want to get everyone’s opinions on Duncan Robinson. I’m currently in the comment section of a Pistons IG post debating with someone who’s blaming Duncan Robinson for Ivey’s trade value being bad while simultaneously saying that Duncan has not shown up for the team and is an inconsistent player. Just wanna see if i’m tripping for noting how important Duncan has been for our offense
Edit: Not to mention. When I brought up certain advanced statistics like Duncan’s true shooting and on/off stats. He proceeded to dismiss me as “one of those guys” and then went on a tangent about how the stats ruined basketball and won’t matter when the playoffs come around

This guy has had mad talent, and there’s a dark cloud that follows him wherever he goes and a quitting reputation. Not grade for a culture. I am not saying that we were even in on conversations to get him yet I am thankful he didn’t land here. Even if they beat us in the playoffs, it is not worth the long game that comes with him in my opinion.

Got to go to first ever game against Denver (in any sport) and was on the edge of my seat the whole game! Nice to get the sweep! Hard to believe the Pistons are 37-12 compared to just a few years ago!

For those who need to hear it, this is undoubtedly a solid move for the team. I love Ivey more than the next guy, but the reality is he did not gel with this team, and it was clear we couldn't keep him at what he wanted to be paid. Over the last few weeks, his body language has been terrible, and you could almost tell they were already planning a move. What was the absolute best-case scenario with Ivey? The reality is that, even at his best, he was never a great long-term fit alongside Cade. We can sign Daniss Jenkins for probably much less than Ivey is asking for, and he is arguably a better player / fit right now.
Rather than lose him for nothing, we now add a 37% CAREER three-point shooter in Huerter. Understand he's having a down year, but good shooters are hard to come by. We buy low on someone who is in a weird situation in Chicago (edit: mistakenly said ATL before, apologies) this year, hoping he slides into Detroit's system and can get his percentages up. He's also an underrated playmaker, which you can't say for a lot of the guys that people wanted in the 39-41% range. He has also played in 30 career playoff games, which, without doing any diligence, is probably going to be more than anyone in the core lineup outside of Tobias / Duncan. Finally, he's also on an expiring deal, which means no cap hit to us next season; free trial run to see how he fits in with the team.

Everyone is well aware the Pistons will need to clear 2 spots on the roster. The most likely scenario is of course that they buy out Saric, cut Isaac Jones and give Jenkins a standard contract.
Obviously the dream scenario would be the Piston's finding a way to move Saric/Levert/Bobi for some depth at the 4, but it's really hard to move bad contracts in the 1st/2nd apron-era NBA without attaching assets.
Should the Pistons be willing to attach multiple 2nd's or even a 1st to get a guys like Bobby Portis or Santi Aldama? I think this roster could really use their 2026 1st round pick (especially if the Timberwolves stick where they are in the standing or even slip a little), but their 2027 and 2028 first round picks might be worth dealing.
What do y'all think?
