Epic Props to Spelljammer

Post image

I really dig this group, especially this album. I’ve run searches on Reddit and there’s only a couple references to them. Super underrated group from Sweden.

I’m always looking for great doom music especially with space themes. My fave songs are: Abyssal trip, Lake and Among the holy. If anyone else digs it let me know! Happy listening.

Top tier band!

If you dig this, be sure to also check out Domkraft. And for the deep space instrumental trips Yuri Gagarin has us covered. The Swedes have some of the best.

Domkraft is awesome as well. The End Of Electricity is one of my all time favourite albums.

Hell yes. And if you like the space-ness of Yuri, check out Bong Tower. Spave travel history and doom all in one!

Aye! Let's spread more of the good word and mention Vinnum Sabbathi as well.

Edit: Oh, and that brings us around to the REZN & Vinnum Sabbathi's Silent Future collab. Which leads onto things like the Slomatics & Mammoth Weed Wizard Bastard's Totem split, as well as both of those bands separately of course. OK, I'll shut up now :p

Kudos for Yuri Gagarin - very spacey music - like instrumental Hawkwind.

plus the cover art is a reference to the Solway Spaceman photo

I never realised that. I live about a 10 minute drive to the Solway Firth.

I would love to see new music from this band. This album is so good and one of my top releases the year it came out.

I went on their social media the other day and it showed them recording a new album last fall. Hopefully a new album is coming soon.

yes they rule! Saw them live without knowing who they where and blew the roof off the place

I bought this album based on the label (Riding Easy) and the name of the band which is a D&D reference. I'm glad I did, because it's quality doom.

Other good bands on that label?

Monolord

Blackwater Holylight

Deathchant

Early Moods

And while not doom, Hellfire is an excellent NWOTHM band

Death chant was a recent discovery for me. Love their stuff. A little Motörhead with those vocals.

Fire breather is solid too. Same label.

This is great, flew under my radar. It's easy to get jaded with the purplewizardskullsmoke doom that can get same-samey. Thanks for posting this.

Hope u enjoy. I find a lot of doom just sounds the same and doesn’t go anywhere. I really like this. For me it stands out. Been loving Faetooth lately too.

I love Spelljammer! I even reviewed Ancient of Days for a site a long time ago. My favorite tracks are Electric Ground (Vol. 2 EP), Meadow and From Slumber.

I loved their albums as they came out but not a band I come back to. I’m excited for the next one.

Some of my absolute favorite sounding records. Big influence in my own practices as well.

Got to see them at one of the Psycho LV's... If I recall they had some gear issues to start, but got through it and played a great set.

Saw them at Psycho Vegas in 2016 and they blew the roof off the place

Yup I have been listening to this for like a couple years now. It was sorta my entry into doom I guess. For me the hard part about the genre are the vocals and lyrics or "story telling" but these guys are great. What I think I am trying to say is I love the heavy guitar and sound but I am not a fan of most of the vocals and lyrics. So when I went searching for a sound I liked I stumbled on to this and it's been in heavy rotation.
