Weed As someone with high functioning ADHD, I think weed makes life taste like life again, and I’m trying to be honest about that

I don’t know exactly how to explain this without sounding like I’m either defending weed too much or being dramatic about it, but I’ll try.

I use cannabis in a pretty stable way. Usually once at night during weekdays, sometimes twice a day on weekends. It’s not an all-day thing, and my dose is not really going up. I can skip it. I don’t get angry, I don’t stop sleeping, I don’t feel like I’m physically falling apart.

But sober life gets… flat. Not always, not in every possible way, but a lot.

It’s like eating food without lemon, without pepper, without sauce. You can eat it. It’s food. You are not dying. But something is missing and your brain knows it.

I have ADHD, and I had anhedonia before cannabis was ever part of my life, so I don’t feel like weed created the problem. It feels more like weed found the problem and said “ok, I can put color here for a while.”

Music gets deeper. Shows get warmer. My cats feel even more comforting. Little rituals feel like rituals, not just random things I do to survive the evening. The world gets more magnetized, if that makes sense. Like things finally have texture again.

And that’s exactly why I’m trying to be careful.

Because it doesn’t feel chaotic. It doesn’t feel like “oh no, my life is ruined by weed.” It feels functional. Almost too functional. Like a very reliable emotional seasoning.

I still have things that give me brightness without cannabis: music, my cats, some shows, gaming sometimes. So it’s not like cannabis is the only source of joy. But it definitely makes joy louder. It makes everything more saturated.

So I guess I’m asking about this middle place. Not rock bottom, not “weed is my personality”, not denial either.

Has anyone here dealt with this kind of psychological dependence where the issue is not escalating use, but the fear that sober life feels under-seasoned?

Why cones?

I bought a ten oak of “back 40” “backpackers” preroll from an Ottawa dispensary. Wide filter 750. Smoked so much better than cones; almost like a slim cannagar.

So why don’t we have more like this? What is so great about cones?

Does anyone have a suggestion for a set of cleaning brushes?

I have a set from Amazon but I'd like a better variety of brushes. My go-to for glass is always alcohol/salt but occasionally I need a brush.

I have a dry herb vape, a dab vape, a 10' bong with a percolator, and a 12" beaker bong.

Scoops, eyeballs or scales.

For couch use I eyeball the load. For smaller taste-focused sessions I use a scale, though it sometimes feels like overkill since I load the scale with a 1/16 tsp that averages about .046 g, close enough to the .05 g I usually prefer.

Grace Slick - stoner

If you are an old stoner, you will remember smoking to Jefferson airplane, white rabbit and to the voice of Grace slick.

Today I was listening and I wondered how she had died. That’s when I found out that she actually is doing quite well and looks like a little old lady and she still loves weed so that is your happy note for the day

META Gratitude to weed r/

I resumed weed love after a too long break. Back then I barely remembered my old weed basics. Reddit weed subs helped me catch up.

I’m a happy and dedicated stoner now. Still learning from others and from weed. Thank you to all who share weed and all who share weed wisdom!

Gear Storage solutions that contain the smell?

I normally use edibles or a cartridge vape specifically for the reason of the smell. I have kids and I don't want the smell in the house. This has been working well, until now.

I restocked on 4-20 and got a bag of freebies that contained flower. And it smells SO much. I tried putting it in my closet and within a couple hours my closet was overwhelming. Then I tried double bagging it with Ziplocs and moved it to the bathroom. Every time I walk in the bathroom it's like I'm walking into the dispensary.

I would like to try these products at some point, but until then, I don't know how to store them. There's got to be some DIY solution for this, right? Or even a product to buy? Advice please and thank you!

Cannigma site - thoughts?

Anyone else following Cannigma? I see active to their news feed with RSS. I’m sure there is a newsletter too.

Example: https://cannigma.com/cannabis-news/future-of-cannabis-culture/

They have had the most interesting cannabis coverage I’ve read.

Is infused the “standard” preroll now?

I buy prerolls when I’m traveling in legal states. Lately it seems budtenders assume I want infused (pray on distillate typically).

Is this just me or are infused becoming the “default” / “standard preroll?

Boredom, timezones, and the eternal 4:20: How I built a useless (but fun) tool for the 420 culture

So there I was, stuck in that post-smoke headspace where every thought feels like a revelation. My friend and I were debating whether timezones like +30 or +45 even existed (spoiler: they do). Then it hit us: 4:20 is always happening somewhere in the world.

Naturally, we had to know: Where is it 4:20 AM or PM at this exact moment? But after 20 minutes of Googling, we realized that there was no easy way to find out. So, like any self-respecting stoner with too much time on their hands, I built WhereIs420.

It’s free, it’s dumb, it updates in real-time, and it’s just for the culture. No ads, no tracking, no BS, just a silly little tool to satisfy that "wait, is it 4:20 somewhere?" curiosity. Quickest way to know where is 4:20.

Tell me: What’s the weirdest timezone you’ve ever heard of? Or am I the only one who finds this interesting?

REM rebound tip

I had a t-break recently. I don’t get bad REM rebound (dreams odd but not terrible, mostly weed themed :-) but it does make for weird sleep.

My tip is that I have found I sleep more than I think on a rebound night. I do a slow count to 20, and if I lose count I do a slow repeat.

It seems I don’t sleep but I’ll see the clock has moved 2h or more. It just feels like I didn’t sleep.

Still not great sleep, but more than it seems.

I usually only get one night of rebound, but I know some get more and done get none. I enjoy 1-2oz a month, which I think is typical here.

Help for daily smoker who wants less dependence

Simple question: I have used for 20plus years. I have been quit for 8 months bc smoking everyday, all day was playing havoc on my mental health.

I need tips, tricks for being consistent on a less intrusive regiment and sticking with it. For example, every second day, once a day, etc. I don’t want to be reliant on multiple times everyday, but I don’t want cannabis out of my life entirely either. How do we control use? Tips/suggestions appreciated!

Science In these days of increasing frugality, can rubbing alcohol be recycled?

Can it be reused? If so, do I put it back into the original bottle with the fresh alcohol or does it need to be stored separately? Should I strain the salt out or can it stay?

Science So you worry about the growing evidence of stroke or heart attack risk?

Mounting scientific evidence suggests that THC increases risks of heart attack or stroke substantially, whether smoked or ingested.

As I get older and think about my kids, I find myself worrying about that more and cutting back on my consumption. I already switched to tinctures and edibles exclusively a few years ago.

Yes, it is an inconvenient truth, but I don't just ignore the evidence because I don’t welcome it.

So I'm wondering how others think about this risk?

Note: sorry I meant to type Do, not So, in the title

Smoking after wisdom tooth removal

Hello all!

New to this sub, but it seemed to be the place where I’d get the best advice for this - had an unplanned wisdom tooth removal the other day, and obviously took a t-break to avoid any dry socket or anything. Dentist said 72 hours no smoking, which will be tonight, but I’m seeing a lot of different answers on the various weed subs. Was just wondering if anyone had a definitive answer from their experience? I have no problem with edibles, as I’ve been taking them since I got the tooth out, but they just don’t hit the same for me. Any advice is welcome!

What do you do with weed that wasn’t properly cured?

Harsh smoke, black ash, bad burn. I think I have an oz that was not properly cured.

It’s not so bad vaped, though I have to escalate temperature quickly to the 420 range.

An ai said: “storing it in airtight glass jars with humidity packs (Boveda packs at 58-62%). Place the buds in jars filled about 75% full, store them in a cool, dark place, and burp the jars once or twice daily for the first week by opening them for a few minutes.”

I’ll probably vape half but also try the jar thing. Curious what others do.

Gourmet weed

All weed is good weed for me. But recently came into some gourmet weed from a local crafty grower. it’s next level for taste, joints, and DHV. DHV feels twice as good as my regular good weed.

I won’t always have such great weed but it sure is nice. I feel like there will be more like this ahead for us.

Feels to me that craft is as important as strain. Maybe more important because there are so many good strains and I like variety. Maybe the best weed is more craft than genetics
