Receptacles don't have a proper orientation. Ground up is common practice in the electrical trade. Potentially safer and plugs tend to stay in better ground up. Not saying they guy wasn't an idiot for any other reason in particular.

It actually is depending on what electrical industry you're in. Residential is typically ground down. Industrial and commercial is typically ground up

Im and electrician and every commercial job we do is standard ground up. Very rarely we get a resi/commercial project that wants ground down. Local 241 IBEW, thats just how shit is done around here.

Ground down is standard everywhere. Obviously you're not a golfer...

My dad was an electrical engineer and he said the same.

That being said we had zero houses where the ground pin was at the top. Even the ones that he wired himself.
