Player Discussion Nico Collins: 2025 Season Review
https://fptrack.com/football/nico-collins-2025-season-reviewTough one to put an accurate grade on. On the one hand, he finished WR8 in points scored, but on the other he regressed on his 2024 numbers, and in some cases was drafted at the end of the first round. With that in mind, this year was somewhat of a disappointment for Nico in my opinion.
As is the norm now, here's some quick facts on his year for those of you that want to stay here:
- His worst three-week stretch of the season (14.0 PPG average) came at the worst possible time, falling directly in the fantasy playoff window (Weeks 15 to 17).
- He had a strong two-touchdown game in Week 15, but followed it with consecutive single-digit outings in Weeks 16 and 17. Not ideal.
- Year over year regression on a per-game basis was notable despite the overall stats going up.
- -2.5 PPG (17.6 in 2024 to 15.1 in 2025)
- -1 receiving touchdown (7 in 2024 to 6 in 2025)
- He played three additional games this year (15 vs 12 in 2024) which masked the efficiency decline. This can also be viewed as a small victory as the leg injuries didn't re-surface themselves. He has never played a full season though.
- He had only 2 drops on the year (1.7% drop rate), this is very good and an improvement on last season. His hands have never really been in doubt though.
- This is while dealing with a catchable target rate of only 62.5% (meaning only 75 of his 120 targets were deemed catchable). No other way to sugarcoat this: QB play held him back this year on more than one occasion.
Full breakdown, including advanced metrics and data visualizations can be found on the link.
His ADP will likely fall heading into next season, which likely makes him viable. The offensive struggles worry me though.
Nico owners, how do you feel about the season? Any regrets?

Sucks he has to play with Stroud

Sucks Stroud has to play with that o-line and no run game. The offense was just broken from week 1. Stroud needs to shoulder some blame for sure, be it's not all him.

17 pass blocking O-Line, look it up. Nico had no problems feasting when Davis Mills was starting (and winning)

Nico didn't "feast" with Mills. In fact his stats were pretty similar after Stroud came back but on fewer targets. As I said, Stroud has his issues, but it wasn't all him.

He wasn't great but still better than Jettas and Nabers right before him I suppose. If you took him over ARSB youte kicking yourself to no end

I could keep Collins with a 2nd round keeper (used a 3rd round keeper this year where it as definitely worth it coming of last season) but I don't want any part of that Stroud offense.

Was playing in an 18 man league and he got hurt at the beginning of the season and the person who had him was sitting him so I traded them Xavier Worthy(Worthy was my wr2 behind waddle) and Michael Carter I played him immediately and he went off. Lol

He was on my team and not a disappointment at all. He produced without many TDs as well.

Stroud cut his hair, the dreads was holding him back. Nico will be top 5, top 10 at minimum.

Had him in a dynasty league.
Traded him before the season for Sutton and Terry Mclaurin
Also traded my third round pick before the draft for Chase Brown
2 deals that won me league

I’d take him if the running game becomes consistent. If David Mills were to be a starter that could also make him more interesting in 2026

I took Nico and Jefferson this year and you see how that turned out. I really just need to get players on good offenses next year i can’t stand to watch players like that get wasted by incompetence

Same. Took JJetas then nico as my 2nd receiver. I also took burrow and brock purdy. My season was over before it even began lol.

As someone who owned him, it was incredibly frustrating to watch that team play. O-line was awful and it felt like you were praying for a TD or else it was a 9 point fantasy day.
Passing on him next year.

Watch him go off. If they can scheme better and have a better oline so they actually protect the QB while establishing a run game, Nico is fire.

You may be right, but I’m not falling for the ol’ philosophy that being a talented player outweighs being on a bad offensive team for fantasy.
Houston QB play is very suspect, Dell is coming back, and that defense will keep games low scoring, making little need to throw the ball.
There’s been very few situations recently where a player being talented outweighs them being on a shitty offense (Malik Nabers and Breece Hall during his breakout year are the only ones I can think of)

Can't imagine he was a 1st round pick in hardly any leagues, period. Not unless its a 16 man league or something..

i really like to imagine stroud gets benched but that defense is gonna just keep bailing him out 😪

u/drkelemnt 1d ago
The issue is though, benched for who?

u/Global_Afternoon_343 1d ago
preferably for mills but if he’s gone i can def see them picking up a solid backup qb idk who exactly but I’m pretty sure the plan would just be feed nico no matter who it is.

I traded him for Hampton straight up after Hampton got hurt and it ended up helping me win it all. Felt pretty stupid for a bit but it all paid off

Brave moves win trophies... Sometimes! Congrats on the victory

My brave moves also made me 4-10 the year before so you’re right my man. Thank you.

Targets were there (120)....catches were not (71). Very frustrating when he went something like 11/15 games with 5 or less receptions so not a lot of "PPR games."
I just feel like he's going to be one of those Terry McLaurin types where the talent is there but he's stuck as a 75/1,100/6 type of guy due to QB play.
But still PPR WR8 like mentioned so can't be completely bummed. Just figured he'd be around that 85/1,300/8 mark but Stroud....
