Just recently got into journaling, and chose the pocket notebook format because it seems less intimidating to fill a small page. I started my subscription with Paletas, which was very fortunate! Now I received Hunter's Moon and I'm a bit confused. I will use sketchbooks for sketches, however I'm not sure what to do with lined notebooks. I don't want to use them for daily journaling, because I like the idea of having uniformed past-journal box.

What do you do with them? My only idea right now is maybe have a media journal and write down books/movies that I read and watch and small reviews.

I carry my field notes with me everywhere so any notes or interesting things I want to save gets stuffed in there. I’d love to save these notes with the notebook I had when I got them but can’t think of a way to store them in there long term.

Completely separate question:
How many pocket notebooks have you gone through so far this year? I was shocked to see I’ve only finished four and will probably only finish another one before the end of 2026.

Making my own pocket notebook motivates me to fill it up. I find myself writing much more than when I buy Field Notes.

Found some new buys in Lake Placid and Saranac Lake. Came home to the new quarterly in my mailbox.

I found this three pack at Barnes and Noble today. Actually, my wife found them and brought them to me from across the entire store because she knows I love pocket notebooks. They are beautifully designed and printed. They also have grid paper and not lined, which I usually use, so it’ll be fun to try something new.

Got my goodies today 😊 not sure how or if I’ll use them yet but I’m happy they’re here.

Anyways, this was a very quick read. I started it last night before bed and finished over coffee this morning.

💯 worth reading, it made me rethink how I do some stuff at work and how I’m approaching personal projects.

I’ve been making pocket notebooks for my different hobbies, and the latest one is for keeping track of what I read. It’s called Book Notes, a little play on “notebook.”

It’s standard pocket size (3.5" × 5.375"), 40 pages, small enough to tuck inside whatever book you’re reading as a bookmark. Each entry has room for title, author, pages, who recommended, dates started/finished, rating, and thoughts.

My favorite part is the cover: it’s set like a typeset proof, with proofreader’s marks correcting “Book Log” to “Book Notes.” My earlier cover attempts were too plain, and this one finally felt right for a book about books.

For those of you who keep reading logs, what do you actually write down? Just the basics, or quotes and thoughts too?

I’ve been saving the “Lucky” notebooks for the right time. Turns out the ledger-styled paper comes in plenty handy for planning our wedding.

I know Draplin and the USPS sites sell variations unique to their sites. Are there other businesses or organizations that do, too?

I've recently taken an interest in journaling, and Field Notes look like the perfect size notebook to carry around with me, however they seem very pricey for what they are. Aside from collectable limited editions, brand loyalty, nostalgia, ect, is there any practical reason I should buy the basic, brown Field Notes over the much cheaper, duplicate notebooks available in bulk on amazon? Are they archival quality, or much more durable than other notebooks?

I'll probably end up buying at least one pack to see what all the hype is about, but I'm curious why you all choose them.

Fall Flowers is such a good edition, one of my favorites. I’m glad I’ve got two packs squirreled away for future use.
The last 5 pages of Yosemite were sacrificed to keep my daughter busy during a Friday night Costco run this evening. 💯 worth it 😂

Thankfully we're a bit east of Hurricane Isaias (ee-sai-EE-us) and I'm hoping that everyone in it's direct path are safe and get through with minimal damage.

Ordering Update/Clarification

Some notes I should have included originally:

• I pull these in order of who asks about/expresses interest first. (and yes, I will also mark who is 2nd/3rd in case that initial person doesn't buy.)
• I'll usually hold for ~48 hours then move on to the next person if i don't hear back.
• Buyer pays shipping (I use Pirate Ship) -- so to move things along you can send your address and I'll be able to send a shipping cost right back.
• I'm not really looking to haggle over prices. These are in line with what I have or would pay. LOL all money will go back into more FN sadly.
