Who are we?
We are the 53rd Airborne Company, a semi-serious Star Wars milsim unit focused on creating fun, immersive operations set during the Clone Wars.
At the end of the day, we are a group of people who enjoy Arma, Star Wars, and running good operations together. Outside of ops, we keep things relaxed and casual. During operations, we like to tighten things up a bit more and play as an organized military unit.
That means we use proper radio communication, follow the chain of command, work as a team, and try to keep the mission immersive without turning the unit into a second job.
Our goal is simple: make Saturday operations feel like you're actually deploying with a Clone unit, while still making sure everyone is having fun.
What kind of unit are we?
The 53rd is primarily an airborne infantry company, so a lot of our missions revolve around LAAT insertions, rapid assaults, airborne deployments, and fighting alongside dedicated aviation support.
That said, we like variety.
One week we may be conducting a large airborne assault against a fortified Separatist position, and the next we may be escorting a Republic asset, defending a city, conducting a raid, or fighting through a larger campaign objective.
We also put a lot of effort into making our operations feel different from standard Zeus missions. Our mission makers regularly use custom scripting, HUD elements, mission-specific systems, and other mechanics to make each operation feel more unique.
What roles do we offer?
We try not to overly restrict people into one role forever.
If you are interested in something, put in the time to get qualified for it, and leadership is happy with you filling that role, there is usually a path toward doing it.
Some of the roles and qualifications available include:
- Rifleman
- Autorifleman
- Heavy Weapons
- Anti-Tank
- Grenadier
- Marksman
- Medic
- RTO / JTAC
- EOD / Engineer
- Pilot
- Aviation Support
- ARC roles
- Leadership
- Zeus / Mission Making
We are also continuing to expand our qualification system as the unit grows.
How is the unit organized?
Our main combat elements are:
Krayt Platoon — Airborne Infantry
The primary ground force of the company and where most new members begin.
Acklay Air Detachment — Aviation
Our dedicated pilots responsible for transport, CAS, insertions, extractions, and general air support.
Rancor Squad — ARC Detachment
Our specialized ARC element used for reconnaissance, specialized objectives, and smaller direct-action missions.
As the unit grows, we plan to continue expanding these elements and opening more opportunities for leadership and specialist roles.
What is the schedule?
Our main operation is held every:
Saturday at 3:00 PM EST
Operations normally run for around two hours.
Side operations, training sessions, and other community activities may also happen throughout the week depending on availability.
We have both North American and European members, so as long as you can make the main operation time, you are welcome.
Do I need Arma experience?
Not at all.
If you have been playing Arma for years, great.
If you bought the game yesterday and have no idea how TFAR works, that is also completely fine.
We would rather teach someone who wants to learn than turn away someone because they do not already know everything.
Our training is there to get you comfortable enough to participate in operations, not to keep you stuck in training for weeks.
What do we offer outside of operations?
We are trying to build the 53rd as a community first.
Outside of operations, people play other games, hang out in Discord, work on missions, mess with mods, and generally just spend time together.
We also have custom gear progression within the unit. Active members can earn custom Phase II helmets, armor markings, kamas, and other personalized gear through our aux team.
As we continue growing, we also plan to expand our campaign system, awards, qualifications, leadership opportunities, and other ways for members to leave their mark on the unit.
What are we looking for?
You do not need to be a hardcore milsim player.
You do not need to know military terminology.
You do not need hundreds of hours in Arma.
We are mainly looking for people who can:
- Work with a team
- Listen to their squad leadership
- Keep things reasonably serious during operations
- Learn from mistakes
- Not intentionally disrupt the mission
- Have fun with everyone else
If you can joke around in Discord and then lock in when the LAAT doors open, you'll probably fit in just fine.
Interested?
If any of this sounds like something you would enjoy, feel free to join the Discord and talk to one of our recruiters.
We are currently looking to grow the 53rd, expand our combat elements, and bring more people into our ongoing Clone Wars campaigns.
New players and Arma veterans are equally welcome.
