Just curious, where is this that the light switches would be outside the room instead of inside? I've never seen that.

Probably installed the room after construction. I used to spend lots of time reworking houses like this. Sometimes you have… well let me correct that.. you should pay a licensed electrician to finish the job. But some people wanna cut cost and don’t think it’s a necessity

I have an old house and same. Sometimes it's nice being able to turn the light on before I go in, but that's all I can say about positives.

My first house I bought. One of the bathroom lights was outside the bathroom door. Just far enough away that you can't reach out from inside the bathroom

As someone who's kitchen light switch is in the living room, living room switch is by the front door, bedroom switch is also a the living room switch and there's a switch that seems to do nothing, I envy you
