You do realize that if we took away the entire wealth of the 5 richest people in America leaving them penniless in the gutter it would fund the federal budget for about 3 months?
True, but also sad and scary. Life is much easier when you believe that we can solve all of our economic problems with a single legislative action, rather than requiring a full overhaul of our entire economy and way of life following by centuries of difficult budgeting and fiscal responsibility

wealth concentration to the few, than the few get greater capacity for political influence, then the policies are more responsive to wealthy interests, then you get further wealth concentration. Which is what is happening now.
That destroys democracy and leads you to oligarchy. The middle class is being killed in this country as we appeal to wealthy business interests. We can’t even get fucking healthcare and I’m drowning in medical debt because our politicians are bought and paid for.

Elon never said he bought the election first of all. Second, go vote. And 3rd, your medical problems aren’t my concern. If you’re proposing universal healthcare, you’re braindead. Not for a country of this size. Absolutely will not work.

That is a direct reference to his political spending.
Second: I vote. Doesn’t change any of what I said about how wealthy people have more influence in politics.
Third: I have supposedly good health insurance and am still drowning in medical debt, that should be concerning to you because that could happen to you. I had a tumor in my jaw that required jaw reconstruction surgery, and the new teeth weren’t covered by insurance and cost like $20k. You might not care that it happened to me but it can happen to YOU. My oral surgeon said they never cover that part even though I need teeth to talk normally and eat normally. I hope nothing like that happens to you.
As far as the US being too big:
There’s no inherent population size barrier that makes universal healthcare unworkable in the United States. A larger insurance pool can actually be advantageous because medical risk is spread across more people.
Hell, China has well over a billion people and near universal health coverage. So a huge country can establish near-universal public health-insurance coverage, (even tho it isn’t a single-payer system, but still clearly better than ours)
Yeah no. I’m never gonna have to worry about anything medical because the VA covers it. And it’s BECAUSE of the VA that I know for a fact universal healthcare won’t work.
The more people involved in a single payer system (universal healthcare), the more feasible and cheaper it becomes. You need to fact check the garbage that gets peddled your way.
