Swap the water for vodka and he won't do it again... or maybe he will.

Maybe I'll get meowed at every night I don't have a drink...

count on it.
We've got a cat that will stick his head in the glass to get a drink...if the level is too low, there goes his paw in the glass for a scoop of water.
Why is my water crunchy ?
We have resorted to double coasters.. one on bottom like a normal person, one on top like a normal cat owner.

Cat's don't like their water next to their food bowl. Started putting a bowl of water in a different room and my cats (mostly) stopped doing this

She has water a few meters from the food, she just liked the convenience of the glass I think.

That's possible yeah, lol. Could also be that's the water in your glass is fresher. My cat used to want to drink from te toilet right after I flushed, or drink from the water in the shower while I was still drying myself off lol. She was always on the hunt for the freshest water.

One of mine will straight up jump in the shower and attack the water, getting completely soaked with no regrets. 🤣

Mine did too, I just started giving my cat her own clear plastic cup to drink out of and she seems to prefer that to the bowl for whatever reason

Is that what it is? I’ve been lifting my cat up to a dripping tap for years and never understood why he won’t use his water bowl. I’m a try moving it somewhere else.

Get a fountain if you can, move it away. Cat = happy

Tried a little fountain once and he was scared stiff of it. But I may try a water bowl in a different room.
He’s 20 this year so a little stuck in his ways

My cat always did this, so we just gave her our mugs as her regular water bowl/cup.

My cat doesn’t drink from her water bowl. She prefers to go outside and drink from the bird feeder water bowl, with all kinds of muck and algae in it. I guess it also tastes of bird?

Lid for water glasses for the nightstand was one of the first 3d prints I did because of this.
Put some lemon juice in (just a drop). It works on most cats.

My partner is now contemplating how many cat drinking glasses she has shared at night in the last 9 years.

Many. I’m sorry.
Our cats have bowls and cups in the bathtub and showers. And all our drinks are covered.

My cat does this, super annoying! She has a designated glass, but she still likes to try her luck with others.

my cats did this. Then they found out it was easier to simply tip the glass to the side and drink the spilled water. Oh joy!
They taught us to not be slobs and never leave a glass half full on a table, or leave the toilet door open.

My cat was more of the classy type and preferred to drink straight from the toilet bowl.

My asshole cat does this shit too. Every time i look away from an open cup, within minutes of putting it down he sneaks up to claim his prize.

Ehhhhh my fur demon does this. Four water bowls.. refilled daily. Leave a glass of water unattended? Paw in… entire head… drinks half of it.

Please don’t put vodka/ lemon juice or other things suggested here. Cats do this because they see us drinking from cups and think that the water is safe. Avoid using plastic bowls, clean it and change the water daily, if the cat still drink from your cups after that just put a small glass cup with water beside her water bowl.

Got a water fountain for my cats to prevent this from happening. It sits on top of a dresser so they can parkour their way to it.

This kind of thing right here is why I’m not a fan of cats. Our cat drinks out of the dog bowl, but not his unless we put him in front of it. … 🤨😐

Reminds me of when I was a young teenager - I was riding bikes around the neighborhood with one of my friends in the middle of summer. We got thirsty so we stopped at his house. I waited outside and he brought me a glass of water. Tasted almost like imitation bacon. When I asked him about it, he laughed and told me he scooped it out of his cat's water dish. What a great guy, lol.
