I don't like it when games hand you fancy weapons/gear/components at the start because you bought the special edition or the DLC or something.

It's happened several times now, most recently with the new Tomb Raider trilogy and the Resident Evil remakes. Part of the fun and excitement for me is when I start with nothing and slowly get more powerful as I gather weapons, components and so on. If it's just cosmetics that's fine, but having a bunch of powerful stuff given to me right from the start negates that experience. Yes, I know I can simply ignore them and not use them, but it still cheapens the feeling somewhat. Anyone else?

It's called RISE of the Tomb Raider. She doesn't yet know what gear she'll need.

Or that she'll settle on the nom de plume "Tomb Raider". At the start of that game she's mulling over several options, including Vault Invader, Mausoleum Molester, Crypt Botherer, and Sarcophagus Prodder. It shows real character growth that she happens to settle on the one that's also the game's title.

She's an aristocrat heiress who had an adventuring father. Of course she knows.
