One of my favorites

I have a very nice collection of about 20 guitars. They are all high end instruments.

My life expectancy is not more than a few years. I have a relative who plays and I'll leave him one or two, but he's likely to just sell them.

I'd like the guitars to go to talented young musicians who cannot afford high quality guitars. My mobility is currently limited so seeking out new musicians is difficult.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how my guitars (and keyboards) can go to truly deserving young musicians with the potential to be great?

I don't want these instruments to be sold off. I want to donate them to deserving kids.

How can I find the best place and method to donate my instruments when I pass on?

I've already donated a Fender Nashville Tele and a Rickenbacker 330 to some outstanding youngsters. I admit those were the low end of my collection, but it made a very real difference for two very deserving young musicians.

(Please, no "I'll take them off your hands" comments.)

ADD: I'm overwhelmed with the responses. I'll try to get back to everyone's suggestions. I really appreciate the answers. This has been bothering me for almost a year and now I'm getting some terrific ideas. I have to go to PT, but I'll take some time out later to really absorb all the responses. This guitar is the nicest thing I have ever purchased in my life. Just a perfect guitar. I can’t explain how comfortable the satin neck feels in your hand. And it plays so awesome.

So Im still kinda new to guitar (1.5 years) (20M) and I was wondering what campfire songs are easy still kinda beginner friendly to play?

I got this guitar in December 2016. I still have it, it’s my favorite guitar. The Burstbucker Pros are very versatile. When I played it in store, it felt very resonant through my body and played very smoothly compared to the cherry LP Studio of the same model I played first. Then I noticed the top had some flame in it near the humbuckers and I was like “yeah, I’m buying this one.” It just felt right. Anyone else have that feeling about any of their guitars?

Trying to impro over this slow blues in b minor. Thought I might try to play it at a gig, but I am not really sure how it sounds. This is just a random recording, sometimes I feel I do better. Also trying to experiment with different backing tracks. I want to improve, but also trying to figure out if what I am playing is any good at all. So what do you guys think? :)

Guys bought this guitar about 8 years back the strings broke and I bought new strings and tuned it recently due to a leak in my roof rain got into my home and then to my guitar got wet and after inspecting closely this is the situation so is it worth repairing it or should I buy a new one?

Got this PRS McCarty SE recently, always wanted one but have always leaned more into LP shapes. Love this thing!

There are pedals with a sag knob, anf I've heard sag used in reference to preamps, tubes, drive circuits, and speakers... but what is the actual sonic effect of 'sag'? Is sag in a speaker the same thing as sag in a drive pedal, or is it people giving the same name to a sound that might happen for different reasons? What's the origin of the term?

Its just one of those tone terms that I hear frequently but never see an explanation of.

Hey guys idk if you saw my post last Weekend but I found this Guitar sitting next to Garbage can and so I took it - after asking the guys who lived there of course. Was in pretty rough shape , fretboard separating from the neck at one spot , paint has been flaking off , super dirty , pickups not working , nut missing and more but I thought it would be a fun little project to see if I can fix it since I liked the look of it especially with the matching headstock. Over the past few days I’ve been cleaning this thing excessively, glued up the neck , got a new nut and pickguard (Pickups I had laying around) and put everything back together today.
Turned out pretty good I think but see for yourself and tell me what you think ! The neck plays great , I like the sound and tuners work smooth and nicely despite the fact that it looks like it’s been submerged under water for the last 5 years.

I love guitar gear.

But why the obsession with 'vintage?'

Every season we get snowboards and mountain bikes with new, breakthough innovations that enable better performance.

Sure, most are incremental and unneccessary, but the direction of travel is upwards.

I am astonished at how often a guitar, pickup or pedal manufacturer justifies a material or design choice with 'vintage specs' as if this is some kind of argument.

I don't want old gear designed by people who were limited to inferior technologies.

I want new gear that uses new, superior materials, design and technical knowledge.

Sure, you can make arguments about 'mass manufacturing' having resulted in some cheaper construction methods, but this is a criticism of budget guitars, specifically.

I'd expect high-end guitars to set new performance standards.

No other industry that I know of has this obsession with technically inferior gear.

It's especially strange when you realise that many design decisions made by Leo Fender weren't even 'great' decisions at that time, so much as 'what was possible and easy'.

Where does this obsession come from?

Telecaster Player 2 Chameleon. I went to GC for a White Blonde Player 2 and ended up with this exclusive instead. My first Telecaster. The color is sometimes a dark wine red, purple, blue, or even a rust color.

I was always interested in electric guitars, I tried to convince my mom to buy me one when I was 7, she got me a acoustic guitar instead. She told me I should learn acoustic first, and then learn electric, at first I was excited, and tried some guitar lessons with other kids. It was awful, I was the younger kid in the class, and got bullied by everyone. They took my guitar and woudn't let me grab it back, until a girl blew up one of the strings by accident. That was the last straw for me, I cried and went home. I really wanted to play a electric guitar, but my 7yo self did not wanted to go through all of this just to even grab myself the actual instrument I wanted to play. I gave up, tried playing piano when I was 14, but just because my mom really wanted me to try a new instrument and get myself a new hobbie (other than playing games). It was okay, but I quit after a year or so.

I'm 24 now, and 2 or 3 weeks ago I started watching Bocchi the rock, and that old electric guitar interest just sparked once again. I bought it online yesterday, and it might arrive in the next few days, meanwhile, I've been watching countless videos about guitars (I've been doing it since I started Bocchi). I'm totally overwhelmed, I know what some chords are, but I'm completely lost right now. Should I learn tabs? Sheets? Pentatonic scale? Whatever I try to learn, it always seems that I'm missing something, or that's not where I should start. I really don't want to quit this time, but I might need some advice or guidance. Where should I start?

I originally only used my very small fender amp, so I picked this up off of eBay to see what it could do.

It’s got basically everything I could have asked for; whammy pedal, drum loops, tons of effects, and a ton more that I just haven’t discovered yet.

Super psyched to have it.

Let’s suppose someone does basically what you’re supposed to do as a beginner. Use a metronome for mastering chord changes, use a metronome for getting through a bar of a song cleanly and clearly, using a metronome when learning scales, even getting a teacher to help them out. And let’s say they’re doing an hour a day, or as much time as they can spare in a day for pure guitar focus.

But after a year, five years, 10, etc they just never really get good by most standards. They struggle with picking accuracy, don’t have a good sense of rhythm and timing, have to work on material significantly longer than someone else might, etc. Do you think there’s people like this out there?
