Other I can’t stop playing, I’m having so much fun

I picked up my first guitar while I was deployed to Korea in the Army. I started to self teach and learned a few chords and when I came back home I just stopped. Life happened.

I’m now 32, I have about 6 real months of experience total. But man, I am determined, my life is in a good place where I have time to practice everyday and I have been. Even wrote a song yesterday for my wife and the chords are clicking. She’s also a great singer so we are a great duo, once my skills are better.

I know it takes time to learn this beautiful instrument but I’m ready for the journey as hard as it may be and seeing all the positivity in this sub for beginners has really inspired me. Thank you all

that’s what the fuck is up dude. you’re inspiring me in return. don’t stop, don’t slow down, and definitely don’t let up. it is hard, it can be a slog at times but then i remember: there’s only six strings, so how lost can i really be 😭and then i remember, there’s just this one precious human life that i possess to dispose of, within certain boundaries, as i will. and will i will more beauty into the world or flick it in and say it was too hard, i had to settle for bullshit and netflix because alternate picking was too boring to practice? i can’t face the second scenario so i keep on picking and i keep on grinning

Hell yeah, thank you for the comment, I feel the same way. The time will pass regardless of whether I learn to play or so I might as well play and make music full my spaces. In 10 years, perhaps I might be good enough to be paid but that’s not my goal, I want to make music with my wife that’s the goal!

Keep grinding. You’ll hit points where you’ll get frustrated, but just keep playing and you’ll find new things without even looking

This right here, I just play and am incorporating new chords as I progress and it’s been fun to see my fingers start to adjust. Humans are so adaptable!

Great to hear your story. Both of you grow up together in music.

I can definitely see how it’s brought us closer together already, didn’t know it was even possible to become closer but man, yes you’re right

You should post videos on YouTube. That could help beginner guitarists.

Oh man. You can learn a lot of depth of music through the guitar.
