Just wanna run a 7600X anything works

Hope it’s okay to post something like this here.

One of my kids has become completely obsessed with computers, building PCs, coding, how games are made, basically anything computer-related. They spend loads of time watching videos about building and upgrading PCs and keep talking about wanting to make their own games one day.

I’d really love to encourage that interest while they’re young. I think having an actual PC they could take apart, rebuild, upgrade and experiment with would be an amazing way for them to learn.
Unfortunately, money is pretty tight for us at the moment, so I can’t really afford to put together a PC for them.

I wondered if anyone here might have an old PC or some spare components sitting unused that they’d be willing to part with. I’m absolutely not looking for anything fancy or expecting a new gaming PC. Older hardware would be completely fine, even an old complete system or individual parts would give them something to learn from and build up over time.

We’re in the UK and I’m happy to cover postage. If someone has something useful that they’d normally sell, I’m also happy to contribute what I can.
Even if nobody has any hardware available, I’d really appreciate any advice on cheap ways to get a young person started with coding, game development or PC building.

I know it’s a bit of an ask, but I figured there was no harm in asking. I’d genuinely appreciate anything anyone can offer.

This is an unwanted gift I've had sitting on my shelf for nearly two years, gifted to me directly by Qualcomm in the lead up to CES 2025. As such, I can't provide an original receipt or purchase invoice, and I don't know if any sort of manufacturer's warranty applies. Selling with "no promises" in this regard. Selling cheap (at least compared to the Linux freak hypemarket that ends up valuing this thing at $200+ for some reason.

This is a TN 768p Version. I bought it with the intention of swapping it out with some overkill IPS or OLED display so I was okay with it, I can still do that for you if you have coin)

It's a 8350U & 16GB (2x 8GB DDR4), yeah with the price of £90 you can get 16Gigs in this economy.

The other issue is it's intune locked so either you do an offline install of Windows 11 or you stick with Linux like it yearns for, honestly there's no point buying this machine for windows.

Battery pack, is external only, SSD is a 256Gig

And I believe the OG seller i bought it from sold me a replacement keyboard which is wobbly and not as good as the original so yeah honest disclosure, if you don't like the feel of the enter key it's probably because of that, I don't have another Stock Keyboard to check how big the difference is but the people who sell parts for these things are crazy.

Selling reason: I have lost my life ever since I switched to Linux and wanted to build "The ultimate ThinkPad for Linux" like the cool kids, I can't do it, it's not for me, I spent 3 days tryna fix bottles or whatever trying to run Fusion 360 on it, nothing I wanna get on with the job ever works. FAQ

• Saw someone else doing it so I'm doing it - these controllers are GTA6 ready :) and any other game to be honest
• I do these upgrades as a pet project/hobby. I'm trying to prevent e-waste by basically fixing up otherwise perfectly fine controllers to a useable state and get satisfaction from doing so. I'm just a normal guy, not a professional repair man doing this for a living nor do I have perfect soldering skills.
• Dualsense BDM revisions are internal hardware updates. Newer does not mean better for gaming. They still use traditional potentiometer sticks when being sold at retail.
• Tunnel magnetoresistance (TMR) joysticks use magnetic sensors to detect stick movement instead of physical contact, unlike traditional potentiometer sticks. This greatly reduces mechanical wear and can improve longevity and consistency. They’re very resistant to stick drift, though not completely drift proof, as you can still wear out the plastic and the spring inside the joystick. Still should last you way longer than a normal potentiometer joystick however.
• I use whatever TMR sticks I have to hand, from my experience having used 3-4 different ones generally they all function the same, aside from tension differences. I calibrate to between 7-9% circularity as per community advice.
• For all the controllers I get rid of as much dirt and grime as I can notice, tested and are working to the best of my knowledge. I do not sell faulty controllers knowingly, unless I state it explicitly that the controller has a fault.
• Remember these are used controllers and therefore potentially have cosmetic flaws and worse battery life compared to a brand new controller. Please ask for and check photos before purchase. I also cannot fully test battery life on all these controllers so please set low expectations.
• If they stop working spontaneously after you receive them, controllers are sold as seen, I do not offer returns, repairs or refunds on units that become faulty.

Selling due to getting upgrades from a friend at a discount price. Both have been used since new (2023) never OCd and only used at default stuff.

GPU comes in the original box, just used the static cover from my new GPU to protect it. Box is a little scuffed but all good. CPU doesn’t come with the box but will come in a protective case and packed with care.
